Made it out to Louisiana State Arboretum yesterday for a VERY few minutes. But my little man got to see his first bog and cypress knees! Oh and pet a Gulf fritillary caterpillar that was chowing down on its passion flower vine. And that spider skeleton was awesome! Wish it would've stayed intact to bring home.

PSA for the day. Go NATIVE! Go outside, no shoes, no gloves, no bra! Get muddy, really FEEL the soil. It is part of you and you are part of it. PLANT native plants! Let nature BE nature! It is a HOME for creatures and wildlife. Those bugs you are poisoning are feeding native birds, butterflies, bees. They are dying because of this mindset that our land has to look like our living rooms.

Just a sec... My red wasp pet wants its rocking chair back.

The rains don't seem to have hit as much as I thought they would while we were gone. The rabbits 🐇 stayed hydrated 💦 but the drip line was not finished. Thankfully peppers can appreciate a little dryness. Just playing catch-up with the pots and sage now and getting the line finished. Of course there's heat advisories all week! 110 baby! 🥵🥵🥵🥵

It was a day for deep cleaning the rabbit's space. The worm bins are under the cages so those got moved and I swept and hosed the floors down. Let me tell you. So many SPIDERS! They've become such a regular issue on this property that I barely flinch, but I do kill. We have Widow spiders and they gotta die. Now I get to be super careful harvesting bins tomorrow. Sigh... If the critters around here would just stop trying to KILL me that would be GREAT! 🕷️ 🕷️ 🐜 🐜

Now this is one colorful gumbo y'all! Cayenne pepper and onions straight from the garden! We'll be making it with rabbits this winter.

Morning gardening in Louisiana. I watered, pulled w**ds, vacuumed the pool, pulled grass around it and layed it for w**d barrier, cleaned rabbit drop pans, fed them (none of this in order! Lol), harvested chili peppers and just noticed my trellis is covered in morning glory (AGAIN! 🤬). I could spend all day out here, but my suburban neighbors are out grilling and I look like swamp thing. 😜 Time to hose off and head to the shower!

I'll tell you this about the rabbits. The waterers are a pain! The store obviously won't let you fill up a container to test the ball bearing and I keep having to return them because they drip constantly. I put a bowl under it to catch the water and Jeffrey just pushed it away and laid under the drip. He's also the one that flips his food bowl over as soon as it gets filled.

I mucked the rabbit's space and added it to the gardens for the first time today. It's silly, but it made me feel so accomplished.

Rabbit cages are here! It's gonna be like a bonafide farm around here! Gotta do a bit more structuring and build those blocks into a worm farm bin then we get the babies next week! 🐇🐰🐰 🪱 🪱
