For those of you wondering how the little puppy is doing, I’m happy to share that so far she is doing great! She will probably always be smaller in comparison to her siblings but she’s growing and holding her own nicely. I put her in with them just to compare size yesterday 😊
She is still with McKenna who is taking excellent care of her.💗

We have another beautiful litter of wee little puppies from Akoya and Bronco. Once again we are nursing/feeding one of them around the clock every two to three hours cause she is so tiny! She lost body temperature after birth but came back very nicely with some skin on skin time. She has a strong latch and nurses well but with 6 others that are substantially bigger than her she needs help. We have been supplementing her by putting her with McKenna who has adopted her as one of her own and is actually very possessive of her. It’s so sweet to watch her mother this wee one. Only time will tell now as to whether or not she pulls through but once again we are giving her our best effort. She is the last one in the pics and gosh she is adorable 💗
Akoya is doing well, tired,but taking such good care of the other six pups. We’re hoping her milk increases a bit more yet but she’s eating well and has good energy all things considered.

There are days that just break your heart as a breeder. You know when you start out in this occupation that these days will come, it's not a matter of if, but when. But boy, they never get easier. Today we lost the little boy in the litter that we had fought so hard to save and who just a week ago was finally thriving and had me firmly convinced he was going to make it. He went downhill very quickly yesterday and this time there was no saving him. I take comfort in knowing I gave it my best effort but always one questions...
if I'd been more vigilant...if I'd noticed sooner, if I'd supplemented longer. It doesn't change things and I do know the love, care and time I put in. If his little life was based on that he would be thriving in comparison to the rest of the litter who are pudgy butterballs.
May my heart never become callous but days like this are heartbreaking.

It’s been a busy couple days and nights here! McKenna has four beautiful puppies that are all holding their own now. Unfortunately the first two were stillbirths or we would have six. No matter how many times I do this I mourn the loss but also celebrate the joy of these four. The black puppy was barely alive when he was born and I was certain we would lose him as well but after gel colostrum and syringing McKenna’s milk and then feeding by syringe I am thrilled to say he is doing well!! I’ve never had a puppy survive when they are born, barely moving and so weak they don’t even have a voice so this feels like a reason to celebrate!

Timeless Puppy Love

Here at Timeless Companions we were bit by the same puppy love as many of you. From our own lives we see the great impact a puppy can have. Our children have had their own puppies as pets, and we see this relationship continue as both child and puppy grow up. This story is not new, but we appreciate the uniqueness of it, each time it happens. We were fortunate enough to find the perfect puppy-match in our lives and are eager to help you do the same. We find great joy in seeing these new canine connections come to life at our kennel, located on a 100 acre farm near Elora. Our dogs have access to roam and explore this farm every day, and each of them finds a bed every night with their friends.
