The West Africa Working Dogs Association WAWDA champions canine welfare by offering a comprehensive range of dog sports that highlight dogs' instincts, while building the human-canine bond.

Forget your ma try, ma kwɛ (aka, trial and error) trainer if they don't have a holistic grasp of cynology and scientific training techniques.

The WAWDA Trainers, Helpers and Performance Judges Camp runs from February 25 to March 11, 2025.

Modules: 7 comprehensive modules designed for all experience levels

• Module 1: Introduction to Cynology and Canine Behavior (2 Days)
I. Understanding canine evolution, anatomy, and behavior.
II. Recognizing working breeds and their suitability.

• Module 2: Foundational Training and Obedience Development (3 Days)
I. Positive reinforcement techniques and managing problem behaviors.
II. Establishing basic commands such as sit, stay, and recall.

• Module 3: Intermediate Skills for Service Dog Tasks (3 Days)
I. Training for task-specific skills like retrieval and alerts.
II. Introduction to scent work and focus building.

• Module 4: Specialized Training for High-Performance Dogs (3 Days)
I. Advanced scent detection and protection work.
II. Preparing dogs for real-world, high-pressure environments.

• Module 5: Handler-Helper Collaboration and Communication (2 Days)
I. Enhancing teamwork between handlers and helpers.
II. Practical collaborative exercises and role alignment.

• Module 6: Performance Judging and Evaluation (2 Days)
I. FCI/IGP standards for scoring and feedback.
II. Mock trials to practice evaluating canine performance.

• Module 7: Final Integration and Certification (2 Days)
I. Full-scale trial simulations and certification evaluations.
II. Collaborative reflections and certificate presentations.
