Today’s Silver Paws Sunday Star is Sammy.

Sammy is our fun loving 10 year old Shih-Poo. We were on a mission 10 years ago to find a puppy for our aging golden retriever to help keep her “young”.

My daughter and I went to see dogs and puppies that were ready to be adopted. As soon as we walked into the room, all the dogs in the dozen or so crates began barking and jumping up and down; all but one dog - Sammy. Apparently, Sammy’s sister had just been adopted before we arrived so he was very sad.

My daughter picked him up out of the crate and he immediately rested his head on her shoulder and the rest is history!

Sammy has a wonderful personality and is constantly making us laugh - snaggle tooth and all! Sadly, our golden retriever passed away about seven years ago, but we adopted a rescue named Chloe shortly thereafter.

Sammy frequently loves to use his four legged siblings as a pillow whenever convenient, but also enjoys being the instigator when it comes to play. He knows many tricks such as giving his paw, finding his toy “bird”, rolling over, and our favorite, giving a kiss.

Our little buddy has lived a healthy life so far. Some of his favorite things to do are go for car rides, take long walks, and best of all snuggle next to the fire. If you see our boy out on the street please stop and say hello as he loves the attention.

Today’s Puppy FriYAY Star is Ozzy.

Our boy Ozzy is a Standard Bernedoodle who joined our family in October.

A few weeks before, our family just welcomed our first child. We we’re just getting into our groove, and Ziggy, our one year old bernedoodle was doing so great with the baby - but we felt like he needed a best friend to keep him company while we’re with the baby. That’s when Ozzy came into our lives.

We knew it was a crazy decision, a newborn baby AND a puppy?! But we knew we could handle it. Wouldn’t you know, it turned out to be the best decision!

Ziggy and Ozzy are brothers one litter apart with the same parents. They are truly the best of friends. Constantly enjoying play time and snuggles together. Plus they are so sweet with the baby. It’s a dream come true for our growing family.

Mia absolutely adores other dogs.
She’s had to watch as one by one, her play mates from the rescue get adopted while she still waits. Mia can sometimes be particular about her human friends, but once she knows and trusts you, you’re besties for life!

Mia completed a training course for adolescent dogs at and is now taking a basic obedience class at .
She’s well behaved, smart, and athletic.

This girl has so much going for her and we hope others start to see the marvelous Mia that we have all fallen for.
