Brody 5 (Class of 2024) was surrendered due to severe allergic reactions by the children in his original loving home. Brody was fostered by Cheryl and Rick Larner. He was adopted and returned to MAESSR two weeks later through no fault of his own. The Larners quickly took him back and adopted this sweet boy. Brody never seemed to meet a stranger and loved everyone. He enjoyed spending time in the yard, going for walks, watching squirrels, playing with his stuffed toys and snuggling on the sofa or in bed at night. He was so loving and a true delight! Brody died from an aneurysm the day before his second birthday. Cheryl and Rick are heartbroken by his sudden passing. He is missed greatly by the entire family.

Ranger is going to his forever home. He is a 2 year old neutered male who

All legs have an additional 15 minutes to allow for hellos, potty break and

Lily, formerly Lenny, was adopted by us in August 2015, at the age of 6. She was fostered by Debbie Lipscey.
When Lily joined our family she suffered from fear aggression. Her past did not include any visits to a vet. So, a trip to the vet was initially quite an ordeal. Patience, time and treats turned her into the sweetest girl imaginable. We were grateful to have her live to almost 15 1/2, before a recurrence of lymphoma.
With great sadness she joined our previous springers in late April. She was the best.
RIP Lily Girl.

We just received an amazing email from one of our adopters:

"We adopted our MAESSR dog about five months ago. I have a seizure disorder, and yesterday without training or encouragement, he alerted to me having a seizure and laid on top of me. I wanted to let you know that he did it out of instinct. Thank you for the amazing work you do!!"

This just goes to show that rescue dogs can do ANYTHING!

I wanted to share the sad news about Mollee’s passing away this past Friday night. We had an amazing ride together and now she is running pain free with all the others enjoying chasing tennis balls again.

She was not supposed to end up with me but the universe has other ideas . He is my post from 2012 and one from Mary Barnes.

Today started with Mollie’s adoptive family spending the morning searching the same homes and streets we have been search for the past three days…Bob had to go back to work and a co-worker of mine named Ceil decided to take ride down and drive around and see if she could find Mollie since she visits Mollie every day when she drops her dog off at my house…

Around 2:15pm I get a call from a woman whose dog was barking, when she went to investigate she saw Mollie in a yard next to hers. She was by a new shed that was being built…She tried to get to Mollie but she just ran away. I called Bob and he dropped everything and ran to the spot she had been sighted…

I called Ceil to see where she was and she was 20 minutes from away from our work and she picked me up and drove in record time to the spot…Thankfully my boss is nice about these things…It is amazing how an hour drive can seem like forever! Once at the site of the shed (Only 10 houses away from where she originally ran away), Bob and I went into the woods by a stream at different points and Ceil let neighbors know we would be in their yards…

After walking by the stream for around 20 minutes I ended up back at the shed…I am not sure if people believe in pet Psychic but a friend of mine contacted one last night and she said She kept seeing her near a stream or river of some kind and saw her at a small rural grocery (as opposed to a 7 Eleven or gas station with a mini market). She says that Mollee is hungry and she kept seeing her rooting around near the garbage of this small grocery. She says that it is critical that you post a sign or flyer at this grocery. I took the new shed as being the grocery store and decided to search the yard further…Something deep inside me said to check the 10ft by 10ft area that was covered by a tarp about two feet off the ground. I remembered that woman said that you need to ask you spirits and guides for help in locating her.

I started calling Mollie’s name softly and I heard rustling from underneath the tarp. I called Bob and told him to come back that I may have located her…He was a few minutes away so I continued to call her name…I asked if she wanted to eat and I heard her collar jingle. I slowly took up one side of the tarp and located Mollie sitting on a lawn mower…She refused to come to me so I crawled underneath and grabbed her tightly and pulled her out…She was less than 20 feet from where we had parked and had been planning our routes…

She has lost some weight and has numerous cuts from barbed wire fencing but overall seems to be in good shape. She is at home with the other dogs and already had dinner and a nice long drink and now napping quietly…

Thanks to EVERYONE involved…The reverse 911 call and flyers are what helped save her…

Dan

Bear came to us in November 2023. He easily joined his rescued sister whom we’ve had for over eight years. She is a mini golden doodle. We have a wonderful dog sitter family who takes care of our babies while we’re away, but you can see that Bear and Maddie take care of their little girl Avery while we were away last week. We love them so much, thank you MAESSR. And long time ago we got Max, the three legged springer from Meadville,PA where his foster family lived.
Max was much loved as is Bear. I’ll try to include picture of Max. He’s the one on the rug

From Cathy Moyer, who runs our training library:

Hey, everyone. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response last time I posted to the general io mail group and still cannot remember who I need to contact. A gracious individual informed me that she ordered the newest edition of Dogs Are From Neptune for the Training Library, but for the life of me I can't remember who and can't find the email regarding that conversation. Anyway, I wanted to get in contact to let her know that the book has never arrived. She can just privately email me.

(I did purchase another second edition with someone else's donation to the library.)

Thanks! Cathy Moyer

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

If you're even maybe thinking about considering coming to the Culpeper picnic, please let us know. We need to make sure we have enough food! And that food needs to be ordered this coming week. It's much easier on YOUR picnic coordinators if folks register early!

So if there's a chance you might come, please email us at maessrorders at gmail dot com.

It's going to be a blast, and we can't wait to see you all!
