25 hrs of driving, 1,600 miles, and lots of coffee later we were on the ground in DALLAS TX. We spent the day yesterday meeting dogs at the shelter, taking them for walks, and most importantly, saving as many as we can! Today, we prepped the van, loaded everyone up ,and turned around to do it all again and bring these sweet dogs back to PA to give them a second chance at life!! In total, we saved 22 lives and can’t wait to see them become the best they can be!
However, this journey home is only the beginning. Many of these dogs need medical care, and some time to decompress. They will need to go through the travel, meet and greets, and finally adoption!
We want to give huge thanks to our partners from Dallas Animal Services and Adoption Center for spending the time with us and working hard to get all of these dogs ready for transport.

2021 Year in Review

As the world is slowly going back to normal, there are more dogs than ever losing their lives in shelters all over this country… Whereas 2020 saw an uptick in adoptions and available foster homes, 2021 saw adoption number plummet and foster homes hard to come by. Despite these grim 2021 national statistics, our small but mighty rescue organization, rescued 95 dogs, 83 of which are now in loving homes. We had one mom give birth to 9 puppies and we treated 14 dogs for heartworm. We rescued 6 senior dogs with varying health issues and did lifesaving surgeries on 3 dogs. We are so proud of the lifesaving work we did in 2021 and looking forward to continue this work in 2022!
As we do each time we ask our community for money to help us continue our life saving work, we ask you to please remember that your own Ruff dog that you love and cherish once sat scared, alone and cold in a shelter waiting to be euthanized. But then It’s Ruff Without a Roof made a commitment to save your dog. We said, not you and not today buddy! You are coming with us. You are safe now. We will give you the medical care, nutrition and love you need. We will find you a warm home where you will never again be starved, abused, neglected. We want to make this the reality for many more dogs in 2022 and we are asking you for a monetary donation to make this happen.

Congratulations to Olivia!! The world might be topsy-turvy lately, but we are here to share some happiness. This beautiful young girl found herself a forever home earlier this year, and we are so proud! Prior to coming to IRWAR, Olivia was in danger of being put on the euthanasia list. She had almost completely shut-down and fearful of her surroundings.
