Those shark teeth hurt! 🦈

But what do we do about it?!

If your puppy is being persistent about biting you, then it may be time to offer some basic needs to them.

🐶 Take them out to potty

🐶 Offer water

🐶 Meal time may be approaching

🐶 A nap in their crate might be in order

If all of their basic needs have been met, it’s time to begin introducing calming activities to them.

Not sure where to start and still feeling overwhelmed by your puppy biting you?

Comment ‘BITING' to book a dog training consult to make a customized plan to shape your puppy into the puppy of your dreams💜

The ONE TEST to ensure reliability when hiring a pet sitter…

Skip to reliability check for this hack.

Your pets are your family and you want to know that they are comfortable, safe, healthy, and happy while you’re away.

When interviewing pet sitters…

✨ Ask about a backup plan

Have a conversation about a backup plan for when the unexpected happens. How will you know your pets will be cared for even if their car breaks down, they’re too sick to get out of bed, they need to leave town last minute, or any other thing we humans have come up in our lives?

✨ Reliability check

Set up several times for you to meet or talk with them before leaving your pets in their care when you’re on vacation. This can be a phone call, initial meet and greet, ask them to text you when they are on the way to the meet and greet, practice visits, etc. If they need to reschedule or have more than 1 excused absence, you’ll want to consider looking for another option.

✨ Communication skills

Communication truly is key. Look for a pet sitter that communicates with you before you expect it or before you have a chance to check in with them. Someone that is on top of communication and sending updates will allow you to relax while you’re away.

Do you cover these bases when you’re hiring a pet sitter?

Comment ‘FLAGS’ for a FREE green flags/red flags checklist to use when vetting your pet sitter.

Tired of asking your friends, family, or neighbors to pet sit or walk your dog?

Common stories we hear from pet parents about their friends, family or neighbors caring for their pets…

😥 “I don’t fully trust them to care for my pets the way I’d like them to or that my pets need them to.”

😥 “They aren’t experienced with giving medication (pills, insulin injections, etc).”

😥 “My dog is too much for them.”

😥 “I feel bad asking them to help so often.”

Can you relate?

When you cat sit for hundreds of cats over the years, you learn which toys most cats are obsessed with.

It's always good to mix up enrichment for your cats. Most cats have a toy they haven't touched in years or was never interested in it.

SAVE this post to refer to next time you're looking to buy a new toy for your cat.

The first three toys can be purchased on Amazon and the last one is specifically on Etsy.

Ever ask yourself, "How can I give my bunny the best life possible?"

Most of you think of a pet being a cat or dog, however, there are a lot of bunny parents out there and we don't want to forget you bun bun parents!

Bunny's have been described as an easy pet to care for and they pass many no pet policy's in apartments, however, they have VERY specific needs in their care routine, also known as husbandry.

For any animal, it's important to do your research before bringing a new pet home, and that's not excluding small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and birds that can be purchased at most large pet stores.

Use these slides as guide to get started in your journey to giving your bunny health and happiness in the new year!

Try these goals in the new year with your cat!😻

1. By the end of the next month, I will increase my cat's daily water intake by incorporating wet food or raw food into its diet at least once a day. I will measure the water bowl levels and observe my cat's overall hydration levels, aiming to improve their overall well-being and reduce the risk of dehydration.

2. Over the next three weeks, I will enhance my cat's daily environment by introducing at least three new enrichment activities, such as catnip-infused toys, food puzzles, and play wands. I will assess the effectiveness of these activities by observing the cat's engagement and behavior.

3. Over the next two months, I will establish a regular cat dental care routine by brushing my cat's teeth. Starting with once a week, I will gradually increase the frequency to every few days and eventually aim for brushing every day. I will use a small toothbrush to ensure proper coverage, paying special attention to the back teeth.

4. Over the next six weeks, I will dedicate consistent time and effort to teach my cat a new trick. Using positive reinforcement with high-value treats, such as Churu lick-able treats, I will focus on a specific trick (e.g., sit, shake, or roll over). I will practice the trick for 10 minutes each day, gradually increasing the complexity of the command.

5. Over the next month, I will implement strategies to decrease stress levels in my cat household. I will use Feliway plug-in spray daily to promote a calming environment by emitting natural pheromones. Additionally, I will incorporate at least 15 minutes of structured playtime and provide regular enrichment activities to engage and tire out my cats.

Are you prepared for winter with your dog?

Depending on what type of dog you have, the winter may impact your preparedness level a bit. Some dogs LOVE this season, others not so much.

If your dog is a big floof and has a nice healthy undercoat, you can likely skip step one, if you live here in Western NC.

Try these goals in the new year!

✨Goal: Achieve consistent loose leash walking with my dog

Objective: Over the next eight weeks, I aim to develop reliable loose leash walking habits with my dog. Through consistent training sessions and positive reinforcement, I will work on reinforcing good walking behavior, reducing pulling, and fostering clear communication between us.

✨Goal: Establish a positive and comfortable crate experience for my dog

Objective: To crate train my dog over the next six weeks, creating a positive association with the crate as a safe and secure space. I aim to achieve this by gradually increasing the duration of time spent in the crate, using positive reinforcement such as treats and praise, and ensuring that the crate is a comfortable and inviting environment for my dog.

✨Goal: Establish a Consistent Exercise Routine for My Dog's Well-being

Objective: Over the next three months, I am committed to implementing a structured and consistent exercise routine for my dog. This involves daily walks, engaging play sessions, and mentally stimulating activities to ensure both physical and mental well-being.

✨Goal: Elevate my dog's enrichment

Objective: Over the upcoming quarter, I am dedicated to infusing my dog's life with a purposeful and varied enrichment routine. This entails incorporating daily walks, interactive play sessions, and mentally stimulating activities to cater to both physical and mental well-being.

✨Goal: Mastering Place Training with my dog

Objective: Over the next six weeks, I am committed to successfully teaching my dog the "place" command. This involves consistent training sessions focusing on having my dog settle onto a designated mat or spot on command.

True or False?

Your dog needs a coat in the winter.

False!

We know you love your dog and want them to be warm during the winter, however it's important to consider a few things before bundling them up.

✨ Don’t miss tips like this again. Hit that follow button.

Depending on the weather, your dog's size, and the type of natural coat they have, they may need a coat if it's in the 40 degrees Fahrenheit range or lower.

☔️If it's raining, your dog will likely be more comfortable in a rain jacket even if it's warmer than 40.

Some dogs are more sensitive to the cold and rain than others. Larger dogs with long fur and a thick undercoat will likey never need a coat, unless you're camping with them in below freezing temperatures. Yuck.

In general, if your dog doesn't have an undercoat, they would probably appreciate a coat if it's in the 40s or lower.

Comment 'COAT' if you're interested in which coats we recommend.
