Niagara Dog Rescue is a volunteer-based registered charity, helping homeless unwanted dogs. We a foster based rescue.

This means we do not have a facility, dogs are pulled from shelters and put in to comfortable homes until they are adopted. We need fosters in Niagara Region or West GTA to love and care for the dogs we rescue until they are adopted. Each foster volunteer allows us to save one more dog and help him/her find a loving forever home. Fostering is ideal for families considering adoption but who are not

yet sure. Fostering provides them an opportunity to get to know the dog and how s/he fits in the family. This allows them to make an informed decision about a long-term adoption.

🐾 Meet Jameson — the last pup still waiting. 🐾
At just 6 months old, Jameson should be settling into his forever home… but instead, he’s patiently waiting for someone to choose him.
Jameson and his littermates were surrendered to their local shelter, escaping what could have been a very dangerous situation. One by one, every sibling found a loving home — except Jameson. He did have an adoption lined up, but heartbreakingly, it fell through while he was already en route to Canada on transport. Thankfully, an emergency foster stepped up and gave him a safe place to land… but Jameson still doesn’t have a home of his own.
Despite the bumps in his journey, Jameson is a sweet, playful, happy puppy with lots of energy and curiosity. He loves to play, explore, and is currently fostered with other dogs — doing wonderfully with them. He’s comfortable in his crate and will even go in on his own during the day. He’s done well in the car and, like many pups, was just a bit shy during his first pet store visit.
Jameson is learning, growing, and ready to be someone’s best friend — he just needs the chance. Being the last of the litter doesn’t mean he’s less special… it means he’s still waiting for his person.

🐾 Moose’s Story — the boy who just wants to belong 🐾

Moose’s journey began in the quietest, saddest way — left behind on a rural road with no understanding of why or where his people went. He didn’t bark. He didn’t panic. He simply waited. And when another dog approached him for the first time, Moose gently greeted them, as if saying “I’m okay… I just need someone.” 💔➡️❤️

From that moment on, Moose has done everything right. In foster care, he’s surrounded by dogs of all sizes and fits in like he’s always been part of the family. He’s kind, respectful, and incredibly gentle. He loves other dogs, is wonderful with cats, and adores people — especially when they come home or greet him in the morning. His tail wag says it all.

Moose is a 2-year-old American Bulldog mix, about 50 lbs of pure sweetness. He’s house trained, crate trained, walks beautifully on leash, rides calmly in the car, doesn’t bark much, and isn’t destructive. He’s great with adults and does best with older kids, simply because he doesn’t realize how big his heart (and body) are.

What makes Moose special isn’t just how well-behaved he is — it’s how deeply he loves. He doesn’t ask for much. A yard to stretch his legs, a soft place to rest, and a family who will never leave him wondering what he did wrong.

Moose knows what it’s like to be forgotten.
Now he’s ready to know what forever feels like. 💙🐾

🖤 Five beautiful black dogs. Zero interest. Not because of who they are — but because of how they look. 🖤
This is black dog syndrome, and it’s why Louie, Reese, Clover, Emberly, and Sir King have been overlooked again and again. Our rescue partners have told us plainly: they have little to no chance of being adopted locally — so we’re asking you to see them.
🐾 Louie was found under a Kentucky highway overpass — emaciated, tick-covered, and alone. Instead of shutting down, he ran straight into a stranger’s arms, covering her in kisses. He’s joyful, goofy, adventurous, and full of love for everyone he meets.
🐾 Reese came to the shelter as a tiny puppy and has now spent his entire life waiting. Over 231 days of watching others leave without him. He’s shy, gentle, and deeply loving once he trusts. (He’s recovering from mange — his fur around his eyes will grow back!)
🐾 Clover, a quiet and devoted mama, raised nine puppies after wandering into the care of an elderly man. While her babies thrived, Clover waited patiently. She’s calm, affectionate, and longing for a peaceful home of her own.
🐾 Emberly was nearly hit by a semi-truck before a shelter worker sat with her on the roadside, offering gentle words and treats. One tiny tail wag saved her life. Today, she’s soft, loving, and still shy — but blooms beautifully once she feels safe.
🐾 Sir King, dumped as a puppy with his sister, has waited five long months while others found homes. Despite it all, he remains goofy, joyful, and full of hope — greeting everyone with happy dances and songs.
🖤 These dogs are not invisible.
🖤 They are not “just black dogs.”
🖤 They are loyal, loving, and ready.

Junior Mint’s story started out tough, but you’d never know it from the loving, joyful dog he is today. Despite a difficult past, Junior has shown incredible resilience and has grown into a gentle, affectionate, and eager-to-please companion.

JD had a rough start to life—he was found on a quiet country road with his brothers when they were very young.
Despite that uncertain beginning, JD has grown into a happy, trusting, and affectionate young dog who clearly believes the world is a good place.
JD is a total sweetheart with a fun, slightly goofy personality. When he wants attention, he’ll do the cutest little bounce… then dramatically flop down, as if to say, “Well? I’m waiting for my cuddles.” He thrives on human attention, loves to play, and has a special joy for splashing around in water. Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he’s eager to learn—we’re currently working on basic commands.
JD is a loving, playful, water-loving pup with a heart as big as his floppy charm. He’s ready for a forever home where he can continue to learn, play, and be someone’s very best friend. ❤️

🎄 Meet Antonio — the little terrier whose Christmas wish is a forever home. 🎄

Once found as a frightened stray and pulled from a busy Texas shelter, Antonio is learning that life can be kind, calm, and safe. This brave little guy has come such a long way, and watching him blossom has been nothing short of magical.

Antonio may be small, but his heart (and his personality!) are wonderfully big. He’s a medium-to-high–energy pup who loves racing around the yard and playing with his doggy friends. When the fun is done, he’s just as happy curling up beside you for a cozy movie night or a well-earned nap by the warmth of home.

He’s housetrained (yes — he even rings a bell when he needs to go out!) and crate-trained, though he’d much prefer to be out sharing life with his people. Antonio gets along well with other dogs, is politely curious about cats, and is wonderful with adults. He would do best with older children who understand how to respect his space.

Because of his past, Antonio still needs slow, gentle introductions to new people. Once he knows he’s safe, his sweet, affectionate nature truly shines. He can be a little barky when he sees unfamiliar dogs or strangers on walks, and like many smart pups, he may find mischief if he’s bored. A home with a yard, regular playtime, and plenty of chew toys will help him thrive.

🐾❤️ Meet Mister Rocky (20241120-04) – Our Miracle Boy ❤️🐾
Some dogs change your life the moment you meet them—and Mister Rocky is one of those dogs. This incredible 1.5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix has survived more than most dogs ever will, and through it all, he has chosen joy, love, and trust 🌈
Rocky narrowly escaped euthanasia in a rural Kentucky shelter, then faced a life-threatening medical emergency shortly after arriving in rescue. He stopped breathing in the ICU, had to be resuscitated, and bravely underwent major surgery. Against the odds, he survived—and not only that, he thrived 💪✨ Rocky has one working lung and a small port that allows excess fluid to be drained if needed, but none of this slows him down or dampens his spirit. He simply wants to live and love.

Rocky is unstoppably happy, deeply affectionate, and bonds strongly with his people. It’s clear he may never have had a family of his own before—because now, every cuddle, every kind word, every moment of safety means the world to him.
