Niagara Dog Rescue is a volunteer-based registered charity, helping homeless unwanted dogs. We a foster based rescue.

This means we do not have a facility, dogs are pulled from shelters and put in to comfortable homes until they are adopted. We need fosters in Niagara Region or West GTA to love and care for the dogs we rescue until they are adopted. Each foster volunteer allows us to save one more dog and help him/her find a loving forever home. Fostering is ideal for families considering adoption but who are not

yet sure. Fostering provides them an opportunity to get to know the dog and how s/he fits in the family. This allows them to make an informed decision about a long-term adoption.

Meet Daisy!

Daisy is the definition of a sweetheart. This friendly, super-sweet lady was found as a stray, raising her litter of babies under a porch. Thankfully, some wonderful people came to their rescue, and now Daisy is ready to start her next chapter with her forever family in Ontario.

Daisy’s foster family can’t say enough good things about her. She’s calm, quiet (they’ve only heard her bark once!), and incredibly smart. Daisy is very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze. She already knows sit, lay down, shake a paw, and the commands “Crate” and “Go to your mat.” She’s also learning to “stay” and is excellent at waiting patiently at thresholds until she’s given the go-ahead.

Daisy’s favorite thing in the world? Snuggling up for belly rubs. She’s happiest when she’s curled up close to her people, soaking up all the love.

If you’re looking for a smart, affectionate, and well-mannered companion, Daisy might be your perfect match. She’s ready to bring endless love and joy to her forever family—could that be you?

Meet Buddy! He showed up at a local property one night, starving, scared, and alone. Unlike other dogs that are often dumped in the area, Buddy stayed. He’s chipped, but his owner no longer wanted him. Thankfully, he’s now in a safe, loving home! Buddy knows all his commands, loves his kennel, walks great on a leash, and is in perfect health according to his vet. This sweet boy is ready for his forever family where he can live out his days surrounded by love. 🐾💙

These two charming gentlemen are both young, friendly, and full of energy. Both these boys are part of our prison program in Georgia brushing up on their training and getting ready for their forever homes. Let us introduce you to these sweet souls who are just waiting to find their forever homes.

Meet Thomas: The Gentle Gentleman
Thomas is a 10-month-old, 40lb bundle of joy with a heart as big as his paws. This sweet guy loves everyone he meets, from children to adults, and he’s got a special knack for making new friends. Thomas is also great with other dogs, so he would be a perfect companion for a household with other furry friends. And here's an extra bonus—he’s even great with cats! That’s right, Thomas loves his feline friends and would likely do well in a home with both dogs and cats. He is also house AND crate trained!

Meet Johnny: The Personality Plus Pup
Johnny may be a bit smaller at 1 year old and 25lbs, but he makes up for it with his larger-than-life personality! Johnny is full of energy, curiosity, and affection. He’s incredibly social and loves meeting new people and pups. He’ll make you smile with his playful antics and joyful spirit. While Johnny hasn’t had a formal cat test yet, we’re hopeful that he’ll make the right adjustments, just like he does with everyone else in his life. He is both house AND crate trained!

Mama Stella & Sissy – A Bond Like No Other

Mama Stella’s journey began in a remote rural area, where she was found abandoned with her two older puppies. While she and her daughter, Sissy, clung to each other for comfort, her son, Scout, ventured out to seek help for their little family. Weeks later, a third puppy was discovered nearby, but from the start, it was clear that Mama Stella and Sissy shared an unbreakable bond.

Through all their trials, Mama Stella and Sissy have remained inseparable, finding solace and security in each other’s presence. Mama Stella is the nurturing and calm mother, while Sissy is the playful, energetic daughter with a spirited streak. Their connection has been a source of comfort and strength as they’ve adapted to life in foster care.

Both dogs are crate trained, sleep soundly through the night, and are quiet companions who rarely bark unnecessarily. While Sissy has a prey drive and requires a cat-free home, Mama Stella balances her daughter’s energy with a steady, soothing demeanor. They play, sleep, and eat together in harmony, proving their love and loyalty to one another time and again.

Mama Stella and Sissy are seeking a forever home where they can stay together. A fenced yard for their adventures and older children who understand dogs would be ideal. Though Sissy is still working on her leash manners, and both could benefit from consistent training, their eagerness to learn and please shines through.

Meet 2 adorable pups from Korea who are equally as deserving for their chance at a forever home!

Gaon is a 5 year old Donggyeongi which is a very rare spitz-type breed! She is one of the most unique dogs that has come through our rescue. This breed originates from the medieval Korean dynasty, and it is believed that there are only 600 of these dogs left!! When rescued, we noticed that Gaon’s left ear had been cut. This mild mannered girl is not only unique, she’s good with everything - adults, kids, dogs, cats.. you name it!

Helena is a 3 year old jindo mix that was rescued from a dog meat farm. She sadly witnessed many of her friends being taken away and never returning, which caused her to become very fearful and timid. Since being rescued and spending time with the volunteers and staff at her centre, she has learned that not all people are bad and has really opened up! Helena is a calm girl that enjoys being petted and loved on. She is very sweet and low key and would make an amazing companion.

Meet Pepper, our beautiful 2 year old American Bulldog from Kentucky!
Pepper was brought to the shelter after her family moved and left her loose to fend for herself. A neighbour took her in and kept her safe until we had a kennel for her. Since being at the shelter Pepper has gained a lot of weight and made a lot of friends!
She has sat here since September without a single application. Pepper is a hyper girl who will need alot of excise and enrichment activities or she will get barky and jittery. Once out of her kennel the first few minutes she’s a lot to handle and pulls, (a harness would be beneficial) however after the first 10 minutes she is very calm and ready to lay down in your lap and receive all the love you could give her. We are tired of seeing Pepper sitting in the shelter and so is she! If you are an active household that loves the bully breeds, you’ve found your girl.

Rosey is looking for a Forever home, are you the perfect match?

Rosey would thrive in a home with an adopter who is patient and experienced, ideally someone who has a calm demeanor and the ability to provide consistent training. Rosey has shown a need for structure and routine, so a person who is willing to establish clear boundaries and stick to them will help them feel secure. A home without young children is recommended, as the dog can be a bit reserved and may require time to adjust to new environments or people. Active adopters who enjoy outdoor activities like walking, hiking, or running will find this dog to be a wonderful companion. However, Rosey would benefit from an adopter who can provide quiet, one-on-one time to build trust and emotional connection. A fenced yard is ideal for daily exercise, but it’s equally important that the adopter is committed to regular socialization and positive reinforcement training. The dog may take time to bond, so patience and understanding are essential in helping them feel safe and confident. FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!
Meet Trixie, our beautiful 6 year old American bulldog from Kentucky, who is in Ontario and waiting to meet you!
Trixie is a very loving dog that just wants to be around her people at all times. She acts silly and goofy and loves to get belly rubs and scratches whenever she can. She is medium energy but does get the zoomies in the house after she finishes her walks or out in the backyard after she does her business. She also likes playing fetch with her ball or anything for that matter that can be thrown.
I believe she would prefer to be an only dog as she is working through some food related and jealousy issues with her current foster’s other 2 dogs but would be an awesome addition to the right family. She truly loves her people and does good when meeting other people or dogs on our walks. She is highly food motivated and would do almost anything for a treat!

Brownie’s journey to finding her forever family is a sad one. This sweet girl was surrendered to her vet clinic when her previous owner, who has had her all her life, was struggling with dementia and could no longer care for her. she arrived underweight and in need of some TLC. Unfortunately she has gone from being in a loving home all her life to a kennel for months now, and is shutting down in this setting.

Meet Grace & Diesel.. 2 Kentucky pups sharing the same foster home and an equally sad past.

Grace is a 1 year old bulldog/pointer mix that was abandoned with her puppies after just giving birth in West Virginia (swipe to see rescue photo). The owner moved out and Grace and pups were left to fend for themselves under a camper top for a truck in the cold weather. A concerned neighbour drove to feed them everyday until she could find rescue help. Flash forward to the present, and Grace is a sweet and happy girl who loves human affection. She is great on a leash and sits patiently and awaits the door to be opened for her to go out. Grace is sharing her foster home with dogs of all ages and sizes and is amazing with all! She loves her treats and will be super easy to train.

Diesel is a 3 year old boxer mix who was abandoned in rural Kentucky when his owners moved and left him locked in the house. They left the fridge open and Diesel was left to survive on the remaining food.. when found the poor boy was starving and eating ketchup packets to survive. He was brought to the local kill shelter and saved by our amazing foster partner. Diesel is a smart boy who is very social, easy going, and eager to please! He is being fostered with all kinds of different dogs and is the most happy go lucky boy.

Mister Bean is a 3 year old Vizsla/Pointer mix that is a slaughterhouse survivor from Korea. He was released to a slaughterhouse employee and was later claimed by a volunteer from a local rescue. Mister Bean is a happy go lucky boy who loves human attention. He is good with other dogs but seeks out the attention and affection of humans over dogs. Given his breed, he needs a lot of exercise and would do best in an active home! Mister Bean does have some scars on his legs and back end that are most likely from a past skin infection, and his teeth are slightly worn done from biting on the cage that he was previously trapped in. He also requires a hypoallergenic or vegan kibble due to allergies.

Please meet Bruno! He is a sweet bundle of love who just loves to play and snuggle. He is the best of both worlds! He was a little timid when he first came into the rescue but is now extremely comfortable and happy to meet everyone and everything including kids, dogs and cats! Bruno is very affectionate towards his people and loves to play with his foster brother, they share toys, food and their people without any issues. Bruno has a great personality and will fit in to most families seamlessly. He is both house and crate trained and a lot of fun to have around. Our Story

We are so much more than a dog rescue! We are a community of incredible volunteers with one goal in mind: To help dogs in need find a loving, forever home.

We are foster based. This means we do not have a facility, dogs are pulled from shelters and put in to comfortable homes until they are adopted. We need fosters in Niagara Region or West GTA to love and care for the dogs we rescue until they are adopted. Each foster volunteer allows us to save one more dog and help him/her find a loving forever home. Fostering is ideal for families considering adoption but who are not yet sure. Fostering provides them an opportunity to get to know the dog and how s/he fits in the family. This allows them to make an informed decision about a long-term adoption.
