01/01/2025
As 2025 barged in and became a reality, our first act was to wish each and everyone of you the very best for this brand new and shiny year...
Our second was to send thoughts and prayers to all those touched by the dreadful happenings in New Orleans, in the light of day, it is hard not to wonder how we got here.
It is hard also to wake up and face the fact that this looks to be the year when Domino's will be forced to close it's doors.
For more than 20 years Domino's have weathered every storm...
A 501(c)(3) not for profit charity organization, Domino's House/Dominos Cat Rescue League has remained a safe haven for cats of all ages, breeds and physical conditions.
At Domino's these cats have found love, help, recovery and a new lease of life.
The majority have been adopted and moved from Domino's to their furever homes, but some have lived part, most of, or their entire lives here with us.
Those who remained have roamed the 5 acres in Palm City on which Domino's sit.
They have made themselves at home in the cat houses on the property and they have been safe and sound in this, their no cage, no kill home.
They have been fed, they have had their medical needs met and they have been loved by staff, volunteers and visitors alike.
Now that looks to soon be over.
Starting with Covid and followed by the financial climate...our funds are gone.
Regular monthly, quarterly, semi annual and annual donations have bit by bit dried up.
We are staring at a bank account that will be empty by the end of the month...
We have no idea what to do.
We have held fleamarkets, appeals and started fundraisers...
But unless we can find a partner, donors or raise the roof with our fundraisers...
Domino's WILL be forced to close and our current clowder of 60 cats will be homeless...
They will be the loosers.
Dominos is in desperate need of the funds to pay the power bill, medical bills, taxes, waste collection, pest control, and last but absolutely not least, the wages of our 5 wonderful people.
We have crunched the budget again and made further cuts, but costs such as vet fees, utilities, phone, internet and taxes are largely beyond our control.
We know times are hard for everyone, especially now at the start of the new year...
But please...
Donate if you can afford to do so, either by check to our address below, via our website or via our GoFundMe appeals. Be it $1, 10, 100 or 1000, every cent helps and is equally appreciated.
Deliveries of food, litter, blankets, toys and treats to our address are also always welcome.
If you are nable to donate, please please remember sharing is free and help us get our appeals out there.
