I haven’t posted in a while so…I joined a Meningioma Brain Tumor Support Group a few months ago. This group has saved my life. Finding this family of fellow survivors is unbelievable. I hardly know most of them but… I know all of them through our brain tumor diagnosis. Or at least that’s how I feel. Every session there is a question of the day. This was our last one. I felt it was important to share this with all of you. It’s absolutely how I feel. I’d love to hear from you so message me.
What do you wish people understood about this diagnosis?

-That I don’t want to always be strong and a fighter. Sometimes I want to be sick, depressed, frustrated, or any feeling other than strong and a fighter.
-This is a lifelong diagnosis, monitored ongoingly, you never really feel cured.
-Doctors and scans become our lives. We get shuffled around from doctor to doctor with none of them taking ownership for us.
It’s one thing after the other. -Recovery is filled with highs and lows.
-Family and friends don’t know how to help or manage their emotions around our diagnosis.
-People who we believe love us no longer know how to connect with us so our world seems to get smaller.
-Life will never be the same because I’m not the same person I was.
-Post this diagnosis is a process of discovering what the new normal is and what I can and can’t do.
-People look at us differently. - -Outsiders think we should get over it or ask us why we are challenged with certain things because on the outside we look fine.
-Nobody prepares us for what the journey entails. I’m different, I’m tired, I’m traumatized by this experience.
-Anxiety and worry about the unknown is a daily struggle.

2yr Cranniversary! Grateful for many things over the past 2 years. My family, my friends, my clients, my spirit guides, my mystics, my angels, hmmm…Myself. I’m sure there is more.
