Hi there! I’m Buster, a playful, lovable Lab mix with a heart as big as my smile! 🐶💛

My story? I was found dodging traffic on a country road by a kind-hearted Good Samaritan—who just happened to be Straydog’s general contractor! 🚗💨 He pulled over, opened his door, and guess what? I jumped right in, ready for a second chance.

Now, I’m safe, happy, and dreaming of my forever home! I LOVE:

Left With Nothing but a Blanket… 💔

On a cold afternoon, we found Major curled up outside our gates—shivering on a worn-out blanket, an empty bag of food beside him. He didn’t wander. He didn’t cry. He just waited for the person who would never come back.

Major was abandoned in his final years, unneutered, malnourished, and heartworm-positive. But at Straydog, love never leaves. Today, he’s safe, receiving care, and finally knowing kindness again.

This Valentine’s Day, show Major—and senior dogs like him—that love hasn’t forgotten them.

Meet Snookie: The Handsome Blue Heeler Looking for Love! 💙🐾

Snookie’s journey hasn’t been easy—he and his sister, Bessie, were dumped at our shelter in the middle of the night, left to wonder what they had done wrong. At first, he was wary of people, unsure who he could trust. But with love and patience, this beautiful Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler quickly realized that humans can be kind.

Now, Snookie is full of personality and ready for his forever home! True to his breed, he loves to “herd” the staff on the way to the park, always eager for an adventure. He’s sweet, affectionate, and just waiting for the right person to give him the love and security he deserves.

🐾 Rainy Day Dog Enrichment🌧️

North Texas weather can’t seem to make up its mind—one minute it’s warm and sunny, the next it’s pouring rain! ☀️🌧️ On these dreary, wet days when long walks just aren’t in the cards, your pup can still stay active and engaged indoors. Here are some fun and easy ways to keep your dog entertained while avoiding the mud!

🐶 Food Puzzles – Use KONGs (freeze them for a challenge!), snuffle mats, buster cubes, or even egg cartons to make mealtime more exciting.
🐾 Find It Games – Hide treats in boxes, blankets, or bins and let your pup sniff them out!
🎾 Indoor Play – Tug, fetch, or flirt pole games can be great energy burners!
🎭 Teach a Trick – Try spin, bow, roll over, or crawl—small tricks with big fun!
✋ Target Training – Teach your pup to “touch” and build up to fun targeting games.
🚗 Field Trip Fun – Visit a dog-friendly hardware store, coffee shop, or brewery for a change of scenery.
