We are excited to announce that Get Your Leash On will be Saturday April 15! This year, we are partnering with The Dog Park Association of Greater Lafayette and Natalie's Second Chance Dog Shelter. Join us from 10-1 to learn about why NOT to use a retractable leash, and pick up a free, safe leash for your dog!

Please share!!!! We are so excited that the Lafayette Rotary Club is helping us collect Presents for Pets this holiday season! Will you please help us THIS WEEKEND by joining them and also donating????

The event is coming up on December 3, and we still need hundreds of donations to make this happen! Our wish lists are linked in the comments, and there are presents at all price ranges, starting at just $2!

Not sure what to get????---we need LOTS of treats for dogs, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Thanks to our host, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Shopping locally? Find donation boxes at the Lazy Cat Lounge, Lafayette Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and the West Lafayette Wellness Center. get a group together and stuff a box this weekend, and send us a picture--we would LOVE you for it! One of our projects over the years has been to create and provide outside cat shelters for those with feral cats that need a warm & safe place to spend the cold days & nights.

These are available for a donation and the money will go towards more shelters & donations to local rescues/shelters. Contact if you would like one.

We need your help--please share!! We are so excited to launch our donation drive for this year's Presents for Pets! Presents for Pets is our yearly event where low-income children can choose a present for their pet--and we need YOU to help make this happen!

This year's event will be Saturday December 3, at the Lafayette Habitat for Humanity ReStore--our partners and friends in helping our community, and children in our community, have a wonderful holiday! We are starting collection this weekend. We have donation boxes at the Restore, and at the Lazy Cat Lounge and the West Lafayette Wellness Center--two more amazing organizations that are supporting our efforts!

A reminder to keep them safe this Halloween! There are lots of dangers lurking in the dark and in our homes, for our pets. Some of the most deadly for dogs are xylitol (found in sugar free candy and gum, among other foods), chocolate, raisins, and candy wrappers. Be informed. Do you have friends who need to be reminded, or who are having their first Halloween as dog parents? Please share. Let's have an accident free Halloween in our community this year!

The Lafayette Parks Department will be removing a large dead limb from the tree nearest the Small Dog area tomorrow morning, Friday 10/21. For the safety of all, the Small Dog Area will be closed and possibly # 3 area also. They will padlock the areas in the morning and will open them back up when done. I will try to get updates as soon as possible.

Want to get more involved with The Dog Park Association of Greater Lafayette? We are currently accepting applications for new board members. Submit your application by Sunday October 23rd: a brief bio of who you are, why you want to be on the board, & how you want to contribute to the betterment of Shamrock Dog Park.

Election will be held next month in conjunction with our Annual Members Meeting.

• Positions are a 2-year term
• Requires involvement in most of the monthly meetings (1 held per month) & events (~ 6) held throughout the year.
• Live in/around the Lafayette IN area.

Submit your application to [email protected] by Sunday October 23rd to be added to the ballot.

Lafayette Parks Department has shut off the water to the drinking fountain but the water to the dog park is still on. Please make sure you fully open the orange handle and FULLY close it when done. DO NOT turn or change any other parts. The spigot will be hopefully be put back to normal by next Wednesday.

With the change in weather, please know that the water will be completely shut off at sometime. It's best to come prepared with your own water from now until spring.
