Jujube harvest. My personal favourite is Redlands and Sihong.
🫒 Suimen - sweet with smaller fruit and medium pit. Nice taste.
🫒 Si-hong - sugar sweet with a nice crunch. Medium pit. One of my favs this season.
🫒 Tarjan - sweet with spongy flesh. Nice to eat but I prefer it dried. Lovely gourd shape.
🫒 Sugarcare - sugarcane taste. Sweet but perhaps should be left on the tree a little longer. Large pit and thin layer of flesh.
🫒 Redlands - Rock sugar sweet and a variant of Li. Taste similar to Li. Large frut with small to medium pit. One of top favourites this season.

One of the newer additions to my Jujube collection, Redlands variety originated from the US. Large and shaped like Li bears ripe fruit very early in the season here in Perth! Most varieties ripen sometime between Jan to Feb, but this variety is almost ready in early Jan. The LO leaves none to spare and she loves it!

I found a caretaker for one of my fingerlime plant today! It was a little lost, hanging out at the fence (no trees or plants) and exposed to the hot sun. We struck a bargain, and now I have a new caretaker for my newly repotted fingerlime plant.

Jujubes are now flowering! I can't wait for the fruits. Hopefully, the plants will hold them this year🤞

The first batch of Dahlia tubers to feed the addiction! I can't wait! Hope to find more varieties over the next few weeks.

New addition to the collection in anticipation of an upcoming greenhouse. The LO wanted a venus fly trap, and I needed to get something to get the pesky gnats.

I had an amazing opportunity to visit a friend's finger lime collection after a few years. I'm so excited to see it grow from tiny little plants to productive trees! Here's a little souviner from the visit. Beautiful fresh, large, and firm fingerlime fruits. ❤️

Preparing a blueberry garden bed in front of the house. The bed will be filled with blueberry potting mix and pine bark. Can't wait to put my favourite plants in!

Multigrafting stonefruit (plum)

Did an 8-way graft onto an existing Narrabean plum (rootstock unknown) with the aim to fan espalier.

Grafted with Japanese plum pollinators.
- Mariposa
- Santa Rosa
- Satsuma
- Mrs Dunkins

I use mostly cleft graft and a bark graft.

Still have 1 more branch available for another variety. 😆

I'm starting to fall in love with making this agar agar - ondeh ondeh flavour. I made one for a club meeting yesterday - the fresh smell of fresh pandan filled the kitchen when the leaves were blended! And the beautiful green pandan colour 😍😍😍
It's really simple - just 5 main ingredients; pandan (especially homegrown pandan - the smell is amazing), agar strips, coconut milk, palm sugar, and water. I will try with desiccated coconut next time.

Finally, I'm back in the garden after a busy busy time. Some jonquils and Petunias are blooming, and I love the colour contrast, but I have yet to put in the tulips. Hopefully, I will be able to squeeze in some time to put them in by next week. This season, my obsessions are bulbs!
P/S: Do ignore my project manager. He has the tendency to photobomb photos 😆

It's great that a friend offered an opportunity to relocate 2x mature angel peach plants from their hobby farm. It's great to be able to start off with a lovely mature plant .

I love those purple spuds. They are amazing as mashed potatoes. Oh, the colours! 🤩🤩🤩 Soo mesmerising!
