Here's your reminder to keep up training this summer! Remember training does not stop after the 6 weeks, it's important to keep practicing everyday!

Monti did amazing! We trained only in the parking lot as we are going to wait until she passes her cgc to do any non pet friendly PA training!
Love this girl! Having a stable dog is a dream :)

A ray of sunshine on a gloomy day 🌄
Good work to these two! You can clearly see the effort put in at home. Also good news! Rosie's reactivity has lessened a lot! Rosie's owner has reported of much smoother and easier walks, and Rosie has gained some more confidence, during her sessions we practice climbing under and over objects, through tunnels, and weird noises.
Does your dog struggle with reactivity?
Having a great time

Your dog is not protecting you...
As a trainer, you hear countless owners talk about how their dog is protecting them. When you ask who they are protecting them from, it's typically a spouse, friend, boyfriend, girlfriend sitting on the couch, an old lady approaching, someone getting a hug, etc.
Having a dog that protects you is something that should be turned on and off by the owner and is also something you train for. I wanted a protection dog and to compete in a protection/obedience sport, so when Fenrir was a baby, I started his training and continued throughout his life. He was a balanced dog, good with people, good with kids, but when I wanted him to turn on, he would. Our dogs should not dictate who threats are; we, as leaders, ensure everyone's safety. Dogs biting someone they perceive as a threat can lead to them being put down or rehomed.
It's a liability if your dog is picking and choosing who a threat is. Most dogs that are "protecting" the owner are more often possessive of the owner, the couch, the lap they are on, or the house they are in because we gave them that power.
If you feel your dog is protective over you, it's probably possessing you, and you should message me 😊.
Introducing Miss Motunui! Otherwise know as Miss Monti ❤️ Born on 12/7/23, take home date 2/5/24
Monti will be trained as a multipurpose service dog, for medical alert + response, mobility, and potentially psychiatric response.
Scoring mostly 2's and 3's on her Volhard Puppy Aptitude test it was between her and her brother Red. I chose her because I have always preferred girls, she was calmer, and was the only pup to not whine once during the test! She also has remarkable confidence and curiosity!
So far she likes food, plush squeaky toys, Gemini, attention, and small spaces
She dislikes being left alone and car rides. Both of which we are working on!
Gemini is a bit nervous around her but slowly warming up.
So far we have worked on clicker training, luring, sound desensitizing, surface desensitizing, and stroller desensitizing! This week she is staying home and learning about her environment, sounds, surfaces, objects, cars, handling and me! Next week we begin our adventures!
You have some big shoes to fill Miss Motunui and you're going to be amazing!
Me and Gem on a small hike! She had a blast chipmunk hunting
Besties Reunited!
Gems been getting lots of training and playdates before this puppy comes!!!

✨RECALL✨ Here are my top 4 ways to teach and practice recall! 1. Associating the cue/sound with high value rewards. As seen in the video we associated the sound of the whistle with lots of praise and treats. 2. Building excitement and adding tension! This requires a helper, have the helper hold your dogs leash while you baby talk them and get them excited, say your recall cue or blow your whistle then have them release your dog. Watch how excited they get to come to you! 3. Using your dogs prey and pack drive. Run away from your dog as soon as you have their attention. When they start running with you say your recall cue/ blow your whistle, stop and reward! 4. Practice off of distractions and adding distance. Attach your dog to a long line and wait for them to get distracted by something, say your recall cue/ blow your whistle and reward them as they come back. If they don't, give them a slight tug on the line and start praising as soon as they look towards you! #gemini #dogtraining #recalltraining
