Hello Everyone,
It's with a heavy heart and mixed emotions that I reach out to you today to share some important news about East Coast Ranchu. Over the past decade, ECR has been my labor of love, where I've dedicated countless hours to breeding and sharing beautiful fancy goldfish with all of you and I'm incredibly grateful for all the support and enthusiasm from the fishkeeping community. However, recent circumstances have made it increasingly challenging for me to continue operating East Coast Ranchu as it currently stands.
The unfortunate aftermath of the pandemic has brought about unexpected changes, affecting not just my personal life but also the business. Rising costs of shipping, utilities, livestock feed, and other essential supplies have placed a significant strain on the operation. Moreover, the devastating loss of three family members to Covid-19 has taken a toll on my spirit, leaving me grappling with personal grief and dampening my motivation to move forward.
After much contemplation, I've made the difficult decision to embark on a new chapter of my life. I've accepted a position in Las Vegas where close family members live and I will be relocating there soon to join them. While I'm excited about this new opportunity, it brings about a bittersweet situation regarding East Coast Ranchu's future. I find myself at a crossroads and I want to be transparent about the uncertainties that lie ahead.
There are two potential paths to consider. The first option is to bring everything with me to Las Vegas and rebuild ECR there. However, this will require time and patience, as it may take another year or more to fully reinstate East Coast Ranchu. Additionally, the logistics of transporting the extensive heavy and bulky equipment and accessories as well the remaining livestock are extremely complex. ECR has always been a one-person operation so you can imagine the enormity of this process - for me and my five foot one inch frame.
The second option is to sell the entire company. If there's someone within the community who shares the same passion and dedication for ranchu goldfish breeding, I would be open to discussing a potential sale of all company assets. This would include all the materials in my facility both in the fishroom and the greenhouse, all the fiberglass and acrylic breeding tubs and tanks, heavy duty racking system, aeration equipment, water filtration system, air exchange system, plumbing accessories, greenhouse raw materials, packaging and shipping supplies, approximately 300+ remaining ranchus and orandas including the ECR American Blue Ranchus, and the transfer of all East Coast Ranchu social media accounts i.e; Instagram/Facebook/YouTube along with the online webstore www.eastcoastranchu.com and a new auction site I was working on www.goldfishauctions.com . I'm confident that a passionate new owner can continue to nurture East Coast Ranchu and bring it to new heights.
Please note that due to time constraints, I'm unable to sell items individually. My relocation is just a couple months away, and I kindly request that any offers reflect the purchase of the company as a whole. If I receive an offer that meets my reserve price, I will gladly pass on the legacy of East Coast Ranchu to a new caretaker willing to invest in its future. Otherwise, I will take everything with me to Las Vegas and resume operations there, albeit with a yearlong delay.
Regardless of the outcome, my support for the fishkeeping community will always remain. In the event that the decision is made to sell East Coast Ranchu, I want to assure the potential buyer of my commitment to ensuring a smooth transition. I'll provide all the inside info on breeding, fishkeeping, fishroom setup, packaging, shipping and live streaming. I want you to succeed and it's my sincere desire to see the legacy of East Coast Ranchu thrive, even if it's under new stewardship.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in acquiring East Coast Ranchu, please reach out to me at [email protected] with your offer or a callback number. Kindly repost and share when possible. I look forward to hearing from passionate individuals who can envision a bright future for East Coast Ranchu.
Please know that I don't take this decision lightly. I humbly request your understanding and support during this uncertain period. And while this note may carry a tinge of sadness, it's not meant to dampen spirits. Instead, I want to express my deepest gratitude to those who have followed ECR faithfully on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube throughout the years - thank you for your unwavering support. Your trust, feedback, and engagement have been the driving force behind East Coast Ranchu's recognition within the community. Lifelong friendships and the fun we've all shared in the hobby will always hold a special place in my heart.
If you have any questions or simply want to reach out, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a part of this incredible journey.
With warm regards,
Cynthia

UPDATE: 5 Hours after this posted, a goldfishkeeper and former ECR customer reached out to make an offer. As of July 29 - all material assets are now completely sold. The sale did not include the transfer of Company Ownership. As such I'll be keeping the East Coast Ranchu name and all associated Social Media Accounts. I'll be back in the goldfish scene someday! Thank you everyone!
