We were honored to chair the booth at the Chicago event in 2023.

AKC Meet The Breeds is the place to be today and tomorrow! The national Club’s booth is drawing lots of interest and our dogs are having fun meeting and greeting.

DID YOU KNOW… that there are more than 15 available health tests for Tollers?!

CHIC requirements are:
- OFA Hips
- OFA CAER Eye Exam
- Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA) Testing

Other available testing includes:
- OFA Elbows
- OFA Patellas
- OFA Cardiac
- Juvenile Addison Disease (JADD)
- Collie Eye Anomaly (CEA)
- Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
- Degenerative Encephalopathy (DE)
- Chondrodystrophy (CDDY)
- Cleft Palate (CP1)
- Cleft Lip/Palate and Syndactyly (CLPS)
- Cerebellar Degeneration-Myositis Complex (CDMC)
- Cardiac Laminopathy (CLAM)
- Buff (Dilute) Coloring

Some of these disorders -like CLAM and DE- are fatal if a dog is genetically affected. Others -like CEA- rarely have a clinical impact in the breed.

Because there is such a large range of testing available, opinions on what is important and what is effective in reducing known health issues vary widely. Be certain to ask for proof of health testing and discuss testing philosophies with any breeder you are considering!

What a phenomenal weekend for our Stoic Family! Bullseye becomes the first champion from the Ryder x Fury litter before going on to his first GCH points yesterday and an NOHS Group 3 today! Meanwhile, brother Wonder earned his first points today!

This curly litter was the first we’ve been honored to co-breed with Stoic!

One boy from the Kanan x Poppins litter remains available after a previous home fell through. He is 8 weeks old today and will need an active home, willing to meet his need for mental stimulation.

Both parents are conformation champions with titles in scent work, dock diving, FastCAT, and barn hunt. Kanan is also titled in agility while Poppins is also titled in Rally.

Pedigree and health testing available upon request. Please DM us with your email and/or phone number if interested, and we’d be happy to pass along your information to the breeder!

Tollers are featured by the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Facebook today! One thing we’ll disagree with, though, is the sociability.

Tollers are generally NOT a sociable breed that wants to be everyone’s friend, despite WKC’s infographic. Tollers are independent and aloof, frequently dismissing those that they don’t consider to be within their inner circle. They do everything on their own terms, including affection, and because they’re wickedly smart, they bore easily with repetition.

Aside from being retrievers, they have little in common with their Golden or Labrador counterparts - folks investigating the breed should know that they are not going to get just a small Golden/Lab if they get a Toller. For the right home, they’re a wonderful breed! But for the wrong home, they’re going to be a nightmare.

Munchie decided to end 2024 with a bang, earning his second NW3 title on New Years Eve with a perfect day including 3 pronounced searches! The day prior he earned his NW3 Exterior element title, completing the element title requirements toward his NW3 Elite title!
