Wishing all our human friends a happy Labor Day! I hope you're able to take a much deserved break and relax. I've learned that the sound of classical music helps not only humans relax but animals respond positively to the sounds of certain notes according to Lisa Spector, a Pet Calming Maestro, so the music she plays on the piano are specifically geared for pets but humans can enjoy them too. Currently, she is helping to raise funding for the Maui Humane Society by offering a special link to her recorded concert to those who donate directly to this organization. The team at the animal shelter is helping pets affected by the devastating fire and provide medical care to animals brought in by rescuers and helping to reunite them with their families. Maui has a special place in our hearts as we recall fond memories from our trip in 2011 so we wanted to help send positive vibes to the people and animals in Maui by spreading the word of Lisa Spector's fundraising efforts for the Maui Humane Society. I attended this live concert via Zoom and took this photo of our fur family members, Chopper in the foreground and Beaker on the kitty condo, both relaxing to the music and starting to fall asleep which is a big compliment to musicians in the animal world.

Two total opposites. Chopper gets a bit stressed with all the fireworks noise so he’ll be sporting his Thundershirt later part of evening when we expect more noise. On the other paw, Beaker hears the noise but quickly goes back to what she was doing….either playing or napping.

I dedicated this year’s Wag Love walk to my dear, sweet fur buddy, Henry 🐾 💕, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer a few days ago. I’ve known this special fella for a little over 9 years since he was a year old. Thank you to all my human friends for their support with donations and cheering us on and especially to my team buddies, Emi & Hitomi, for joining Pieper Paws Pals Team. Thank you also to the leader of the pack, Mari Maeda, and her organization, Canine Cancer Alliance, for taking action to find a cure and give hope and comfort to those affected. Miss Penny is an adorable, senior girl, waiting patiently for her fur-ever foster home through one of my favorite local non-profit organization, Old Dog Haven, who will take care of her medical expenses. My good friend has first hand knowledge about this adorable girl & shared with me all about her sweet disposition so I’m sending positive vibes that she’ll find her new family soon. I’m sure Miss Penny would greatly appreciate it if you could help spread the word 🐾 . Thank you!

Another senior girl who needs our assistance and your shares is Penny. We'd love to pull her into our rescue but need a home to send her to!

PERMANENT Old Dog Haven FOSTER HOME FOUND!
(in W. Washington state or Portland, OR only)

Yorkie, spayed female who weighs about 16 pounds. This very very sweet girl is far healthier and happier than when a small group took her in July! She still needs full-mouth extractions but has clean teeth now. She has had chronic allergies with skin and ear issues; she will need special care for those. A heart murmur was found in July but then wasn't heard at the next visit. She's OK with dogs, cats and even older children but craves routine and a quiet home with someone who cares.
