The agricultural department surprised us with a visit today. Naturally, we passed our inspection 😉 Even though the was the first unannounced one we've ever had (previously we had a day or two heads up to make sure we would be home). We're good to go for another year on our licencing!

The state of Georgia requires a pets dealers license for anyone with a breeding facility or who is producing over a certain number of animals. This requires us to pay special attention to records, cleaning, overall appearance, organization, and so on. It helps ensure breeders in the state are held to a standard.

We're continuing to meet that standard 😁 And working on doing better and better each time.

Steve was truly my childhood hero.

HAPPY STEVE IRWIN DAY!

If you’re old enough, you probably remember Steve Irwin of the Australian Zoo. Steve died tragically and young on September 4, 2006. On November 15 each year, people all over the world celebrate this amazing man and his incredible impact on the world of animals and people.

Steve Irwin Day is celebrated internationally to honor the life of the world famous “Crocodile Hunter” who inspired thousands of people around the world to prioritize wildlife conservation and take more interest in and care of animals. His name will forever be associated with environmental activism and wildlife conservation.

Bow chika wow wow 😎

We settled on 10 pairs for this season, mostly project stuff (and 1 boa pair which we haven't started yet). We paired 9 of the girls the night before last (1 is using the same boy as another so she has to wait). This morning, 4/9 were locked and all but one other couple was "flirting." Color me excited 🤩 These should be some really fun pairs and our projects/goals should get pushed forward. I commented the morphs for each of these pairs under the photos, if you are curious.

Hopefully this is a healthy, productive, successful year.

We're about to start a new adventure...
We're breaking up with FRM (since our feed store is fed up with them and are switching to Kalmbach so we don't have much choice). I have used FRM for yearssss. Pretty much from the start, and I've been feeding rats for 6 or 7 years. We have to go to the next town over to get it since our feed store in town doesn't carry FRM. I've tried multiple other types of feed and never liked any of them as much. So this is kinda a big deal to me, to be welcoming this stranger into my rat shed 😤 But, I've heard a ton of positive things about Kalmbach over and over! And it's not much different in price. So here's to new adventures. We will see officially switching next time we do a feed run, since they still have a few FRM bags (we're gonna mix them together for a bit to get them used to the new stuff). I was not thrilled about this but seeing all the positive feedback, I'm ready to see how this goes. They also have chinchilla food so our lovely Ava may be getting some Kalmbach also...

We hatch chicks regularly to grow out for our kingsnakes, retics, and the large boa. The blood python likes them occasionally also.
Check out what hatched today! Lil no eyes chick. We're calling it Peep. It seems healthy and we've already got a ton of tips on how to care for it and how they can potentially thrive. So we will see how he does! He can hear very well and is alert. Thankfully he has a few other chicks to grow up with and rely on.

Just in case you didn't know, last Saturday was Tempest's first birthday 🥳 She has two reptile expos under her belt and I'm sure she will be at more. I wonder if people will recognize her at our table like they do Atlas?

We really need to move some snakes to fix some vehicle issues ASAP! So our entire list is still 50% REDUCED. The boas were not included in this but we will now reduce them down to 100 across the board as well (which is a 30% or so reduction). I am going to look through my adults and consider adding two or three more at least, I'll post them if I do.
