So this was the last one to shed from clutch 7.
I am SO happy with this girl. She took her first meal, she's stunning, she's calm. I could stare at her all day. Gorgeous.
Have I ever mentioned that hypo is my favorite??

This entire clutch has shed, and last night all 4 took their first meal! I'm SO excited because the girl I want to keep is absolutely stunning, I just needed to see how well she'd eat. Technically we still have to see how well she CONTINUES to eat but this is a great start. Every single one ate like a champ. So happy 🥰

I never got an updated picture after she shed. I posted the other 3 shed. I'll get one of her after she has a day or two to settle in that meal.

Most of our babies this year have really done fantastic. But one clutch had a few that did not want to take off properly. We lost 2. This one was always more alert than those 2. It seemed to have more will to survive. And finally, tonight, it's eating for the first time on its own 🥹 Woohoo! I am hoping this will be the start of a successful animal...
3 of the siblings have been doing fantastic, they never missed a meal. It's weird how these things work.

Last winter I started cutting up feed bags and old clothes we'd otherwise throw out for the rats to use as nest material. It allows them to mimic their natural nesting behavior more and also helps keep babies warm during the cold season. Got a man that burns through socks and work shirts like I do? Your rats will love em. Your closet will be less full. It'll be great all around.

A lot of people ask us for rats, and we don't sell those. At least not currently.
We do usually have plenty of mice though 👀

2.8 colonies are 15 buckeroos.
(That's two males and eight females)
Otherwise they're 2 bucks each.
Lots of pretty colors and we try to cull meanies and violence.

This one is for the pied lovers.. I hear pied pied pied (I mean who doesn't love it?). We are doing 4 pairs this year that can produce pied and this one has the most chance to. 2 are for a project and 1 is that crazy pair I posted earlier so who knows what will come from that. Hopefully this pair gives us a few for our pied lovers 🤍🤎🖤

Look at these two beautiful, spoiled girls that went to a new home about a week and a half ago! They've been settling in nicely and are very obviously loving life. While we do our best to ensure a content life for our rats, I adore when we get to send a few to a true pet home. We put a lot of work into producing docile rats with pretty colors because it benefits us. The work pays off by our snakes never getting bitten and the females don't kill their babies and the rats don't fight. I enjoy the colors so that part is for me. I think these traits also make them ideal pets and it feels so good to see them living like little queens.
