Update on Bane,
We got a good report from the vet today! So to start last Friday we took him in for some swelling on his elbow, Saturday he started running a fever that got to 107🫣 we took him to emergency vet where they kept him over the weekend and got his fever down. We then took him to our vet, he has a really bad case of cellulitis it spread up his arm on to his chest. They did surgery to drain some of the infection where they found a lot of dead tissue, we made a game plan to keep flushing it and put him on a iv antibiotic. Today they said that his leg is looking really good, it’s still draining but the tissue is looking pink, he still has a road to recovery but hopefully we will get to bring him home next week! It has been a scary week for us. We still have no clue what caused the infection or why it spread so fast.

Keep praying for him as this will not be an easy recovery for him.

Do you know your dogs regular temperatures? What is it when they are relaxed, when they have been active?
Do you know the way their body feels when they are warm?
Do you know how to take their temperature?

Last night when Bane wouldn’t get up to go eat we knew something was wrong, when I went to help him stand I felt how warm his belly was. I took his temperature and it was not normal, we ended up taking him to the emergency vet, where they are still getting his temperature down.

Make sure you take notice of all your dogs “quirks” sometimes a change in behavior is nothing, other times it could be serious.

Here is an example of why muzzle training your dog is a good thing. Bane here has happy tail, even with the cone on he can get to it, the muzzle is the only thing that keeps him from licking and chewing on it. The muzzle is not a punishment, he doesn’t love having it on but he also does not fight it.

A muzzle is not just for “mean dogs”.
