On the 30th of September 2023 Sharyn very kindly brought Deef up to us for a meet and greet and possible adoption. He stayed.
That day changed our lives forever!
I admit the first month was stressful and if Sharyn hadnt put us in touch with Lesley Jolly then I doubt we would have Deef now.
Because I had only ever had small spaniels, I had a mindset that was tuned for small dogs and despite spending 6 months doing research on the breed and being a part of greyhound groups on FB I was still very much unprepared for owning one. However things started to change once we met Lesley and her gorgeous greyhound Daisy. I also didnt want to just "give up" and send Deef back.
12 months later and I cant imagine life without him. He has us in stitches every day! I loved my two little cavaliers, they were loving and adorable, BUT, so totally different to a greyhound!
Deef has learnt a lot over this last year but one thing he has taught himself recently is to burry a bone so well that we cant find it! I recently had my backyard landscaped and had a sand pit put in for him, he goes crazy in it, throwing sand all over the place, however when he buries his bone he is so neat about it we literally couldnt find where he had put it! He had the intelligence to dig a deep enough hole, drop the bone in it and then cover it up!
WE adopted Deef 3 weeks after my father passed. Dad was a lover of all animals and would have loved Deef. And I know, that once Deef was accustomed to going to dads nursing home he would loved visiting him too. It's one thing I regret not adopting sooner.
Anyway this is Deefs' first "Gotcha" day, Thank you to Sharyn Marshall and Noel Gibson for allowing me to adopt this gorgeous, happy, intelligent, silly, sooky, loving, num-skull of a dog!

Such as sad why to go for Black Caviar.

Tributes continue to flow for champion Australian racehorse Black Caviar — who was unbeaten in 25 races — following her death on Saturday.

If you have a greyhound and wish to walk them in public, it is a legal requirement that they be assessed and then wear a green (GAP) collar signifying that they are muzzle exempt.
They MUST wear this collar at all times in public. You can be fined if they dont!!

Gap is now available to offer muzzle free exemption assessments to those who have a retired greyhound that they would like assessed to be muzzle free in public.

The assessment fee is $25 and if successful the collar cost is $25. If you have previously contacted Gap regarding assessment, keep an eye on your emails as information will be coming to you soon. Anyone else that is looking to get their greyhound assessed please email [email protected] to express interest and we can then provide you with all the information.

My daughter and I took Deef to Ulverstone this morning to meet up with the Nth West greyhound walking group for our monthly walk on the beach.
Fortunately it was a lovely day weather wise although it was a bit cold and windy down on the beach but bearable.
Deefs' girlfriend, Daisy was there too along with a dozen or so other greyhounds, Deef LOVED it!

The Double Ds' got together this morning for a short toddle around Docs' park in Sheffield.
They're looking at the silly plovers who have decided to nest in the middle of the large open grassed area in the park. We were dive bombed twice while there - stupid birds!

Havent posted any photos of Deef for awhile. These were from last week when it was bitterly cold here. Also a couple of him sunning himself in my craft room and a short clip of him meeting up with his girlfriend Daisy.

Just after 7am this morning, in the garden up the back under my neighbours bedroom window, Deef decided to do what we think was Rooing! Only it sounded more like a cross between howling and screaming! It scared the hell out of us! Got siobhan out of bed and I was just putting my shoes on the go see what the matter was when he jumped out of the garden and came bounding up the deck to me.
My poor neighbour (not - we dont like them) had turned their light on and he set off other dogs in the neighbourhood.
He had been standing in the garden next to some wire fencing that I had used to corden off a section of the garden I didnt want him in. He knew it was there, had always avoided it but I thought for a split second that he may have got stuck in it or something. At 7am the yard is almost completly dark so it was hard to tell, but no he wasnt stuck was he! He just decided to let rip with an almighty high pitch scream x howl! To top it off, HE DID IT TWICE!!!!

For crying out loud! This is the type of rubbish that the "Anits" would have people believe!

They announced last night on the news that the new greyhound racing track for the North West coast that was planned to be built out near the airport, has been scraped due to cost blow out!
What the hell?
But that same government is going to spend god only knows how much on a new stadium for stupid bloody AFL!!!! So NO! It's not a case of cost blow out, it's a case of what will be popular and bring them votes in the next election!

I'm really pissed off! My daughter and I were really looking forward to going to the races, the new venue would have been accessible for us.

Pic of Deef and Daisy chasing each other - for attention.
