Internship at Miellie Meadows
This position is offered to individuals looking to learn all there is to know about horse care with the benefits of receiving lessons from Berber DeVries, Miellie Meadows manager and trainer, to improve their riding skills and horsemanship. Berber focuses on natural horsemanship through groundwork, confidence building and retraining with a background in classical dressage.
The Learning Schedule:
The daily schedule is flexible and can accommodate a person who can come during the day or afternoon. If you have interest and can come before work or school or if you can come after school or work, reach out and we can discuss!
Daily routines include, stall cleaning, feeding, grooming, tacking up, warming up and riding along with other regular daily tasks.
Internship Perks:
You will be provided with the opportunity to work with and/or ride a horse each day. In addition, you will be provided with an official riding lesson from one of our coaches weekly (after your working student hours). In your spare time, there are other opportunities to ride so that you can practice and consolidate your newly learned skills. If you bring your own horse, you will get a discounted rate on board, training and additional lessons from the weekly lesson provided (after work hours).
Once you have established a working relationship with Miellie Meadows and have had sufficient lessons and experience with the team an opportunity to learn how to teach beginner lessons can be offered if interested and capable. Working students can also learn how to properly barefoot trim horses while at Miellie Meadows.
Requirements:
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to improve their riding and learning all there is to know about horse care. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about horses and who have good organizational skills. Hard working, energetic, polite, kind and a positive attitude will be a huge asset to the working student chosen for the position.
