Manticora Reptiles & Rattery Working to provide quality animals since 2018. Amazing pet rats are our next journey!! Hello! Which I just recently beat! - (02/29/24).

My name is Adahlia ByPunC, and I am the owner/founder of Manticora Reptiles & Rattery. I originally started out breeding just Crested Geckos in 2017-2018, and was slowly working my way into other species. Such as the (Oedura monilis), or the (Teratolepis fasciata).
-
I was planning on moving into breeding even more reptiles from 2019-2023, but the COVID pandemic really hit myself and my family ha

rd. I was diagnosed with 2 different forms of cancer, one of which being a form of Thyroid cancer. I was forced to make a lot of tough decisions relatively quickly to better myself, and now here we are.

In 2020 I got my first group of rats, all boys. I had never owned small rodents before, so handling them gave me immense anxiety. I've worked on that so much over these past few years, and I think I'm finally at a place where I can say I'm truly ready to begin healing and move forward.

- Rats have so much personality and love, all squished down into such a small package. My new goal is to produce healthy, well-tempered rats for people looking to add a little friend(s) to their family! Rats have been kept and cared for by people for hundreds, if not thousands of years. They're mentioned in cultures all around the world for being one of the most loyal of animals, and most accepting of our love.

I truly believe bringing rats into my life, almost 3 years ago now, saved me.

Today we said goodbye to Finn. He was 7 days away from being 28 months old. He was the first rat we got 2 years ago and he was 1 of the last 2 remaining rats from our first group, alongside his brother Twig.
Finn had an attitude, especially before being neutered lol, but he was an extremely good boy. Especially in his old age. He loved life these past few months, living with his brother, who is also neutered, and 4 younger females. They brought him so much joy in his final days.
Finn ended up passing in my lap, inside a bonding hoodie with his head in my hand. I was petting him as he took his final breaths. I will miss this boy so much, but I'm so very glad I met him. He helped me get over my fear of rats, and introduced me to the joy of having them. I hope in our journey as rat breeders that I produce a boy half as amazing as he was.

Little, old man Finn was diagnosed with cancer today. He's had a small lump on his right side for the past month. It didn't grow much so we assumed it was an abscess and were going to wait and see if it'd pop on its own before stressing him out with a vet visit. Well, it started growing more recently so we made him an appointment with our local vet, and within the last week it became necrotic and collapsed.
Today the vet confirmed it is a tumor gone necrotic, not an abscess. We also discovered a second tumor that was more internal and not as visible until now. Outside of surgery, there's not much to be done. Finn is 2 years and 2 months. He wouldn't make it through surgery, and even if he did the recovery would be long for such an old rat.
So for now he's going to be given antibiotics for his necrotic tumor, anti-inflammatories, and pain medication. If he gets worse and no longer has a good quality of life, he still gets around well and is happy living with his brother and their 4 female friends, then we'll take him in to be put to rest.
Finn and his brother, Twig, were the very first rats we got over 2 years ago. They're the sweetest old men, especially after their neuter over a year ago and as they've aged. They love life and it will be a sad day when we lose them both. Hopefully that time isn't as soon as I fear.

So I didn't have a chance to update y'all, but about 2 weeks ago we picked up our 3 new baby boys from Razzie Rodents! We got the Agouti variegated and Blue Agouti I mentioned in my last post, but we also picked up a little Russian Blue Silvermane!
The RB Silvermane we named Aspen, the Blue Agouti is Birch, and the Agouti variegated is Chestnut!
We started the intro process yesterday by letting them all meet in the bathtub, and when that went well we moved them into a small, bare cage. They did great overnight so I decided to move them into the big cage this morning! So far so good! So excited to have these new boys and I hope Moss and Spruce enjoy the extra company!

Wonderful news! In a few weeks time we'll be welcoming these 2 handsome boys in from Razzie Rodents!! The first boy is a standard Agouti, and the second is a Blue Agouti.
These two were produced out of Razzie Rodent's Fluffy and Ingrid. These 2 boys are very exciting as their line has some fun possibilities for future breeding projects!
As well as expanding our lines, and breeding possibilities, these 2 will also function as younger companions to 2 of our older, intact males, Moss and Spruce. They both turn 2 years old later this year and are starting to slow down, so some younger boys to get them up and moving around is definitely needed.
Can't wait to introduce these boys to our mischief!! Please follow us for more updates and if you're in Delaware or the surrounding states please share our page with any rat lovers you may know! Thanks for looking!!

Finally found a bonding hoodie that I liked, and so far everyone is a fan! Tried it with my 2 intact boys yesterday, 2 of my girls today, and my 2 senior, neutered boys this evening.

Everyone loved it, but especially my girls. Here's a few pics of them snoozing!!

The black silvermane is Helvella, and the hooded is her sister, Mycena! These two are a couple of our future breeders that we should be pairing some time in April!

Our 4 girls cuddled up with our 2 senior, neutered males. These 4 ladies are the start of our breeding projects. We have a Black Silvermane, a Black Hooded, a Beige Variegated, and a Marked Siamese.

The first pairing we plan to do is between the Black Silvermane girl and our older, standard Black male.

So excited to start on this journey!!!

Lets all wish these two a happy birthday! These are Finn and Twig, the first rats we got 2 years ago from Perfect Peach Rattery and Rescue. Today is their 2nd birthday which makes them the oldest rats in our care.

These 2 boys are neutered and currently living out their senior days with 4 young girls. 2 of the girls are related to them though, so we'll be able to continue their line when we start breeding soon!!

Something new is coming soon! Hope you all are ready for the next chapter!! 😃😃😃

First Steps

I got my first reptile, a Leopard Gecko, when I was 10 years old. At the time I didn’t get much help from my parents, so all the information I received on care was what I had read online and in books. Unfortunately the animal I bought was sick from the beginning, she came from a chain pet store, and died soon after I got her.

After losing her I decided I didn’t want reptiles until I was older and more experienced. As the years went by, I had other opportunities to care for various species including Water Snakes, Red Eared Slider Turtles, Painted Turtles, and other species. I did my best to learn as much as I could and provide the highest quality of care I could for my animals, but when the care of your animals is reliant solely on your parent’s fragile income, there’s not much you have to work with.

By the time I was in high-school, I had moved away from reptiles and into other things. I still loved them, as well as all other animals, I just didn’t have the means to care for them and have them in my life. When I graduated and got my first job I finally had a chance and the means to provide for a reptile, and so I brought home Bonita. She was my first reptile in years, a Leopard Gecko, and since I got her its turned into an obsession almost. With one after another, new species after new species.

And that’s how I got here today. I fell in love with Crested Geckos. Their ease of care, beautiful and highly varied morphs, and their calm dispositions make them wonderful pets. Starting this year I’ve begun pairing several Cresties in hopes of producing high quality babies. I’m still taking my first steps into this world, but I’m hoping you’ll all join me for the ride and hopefully decide to buy one of my babies in the future.
