Went out with a few friends to chase bobwhites yesterday on Public Land. Got into enough birds to keep it fun without a doubt.

Cross Timber’s Duchess Dani did a great job working the field and at least a few birds were harvested off her points. She is co owned by Chris McCormick.

North Texas Need for Speed, UT I (Goose) was also on the hunt with his owner Mitchell. He is a nice male.

Looking forward to seeing how Cross Timber’s Duchess Dani X North Texas Need for Speed pups turn out after seeing them both hunt side by side yesterday. She was bred to days before this hunt.

Enjoyed a day afield with my 14 year
Old son and a friend (Brandon Matthes), and of course with our four legged friends as well.

We moved a number of Bobwhite coveys hunting public in OK on opening day.

One of the males we kept named Cross Timber’s Implement the Plan, NA I (AKA CREED) is now 10 months old. This was his first wild bird debut. Wasn’t certain what I’d see as some dogs do great in canned training scenarios, but don’t impress on wild birds after walking for miles. He didn’t dissapoint. Never stopped moving or tired out when on the ground. He even got in on some action with a point or two that resulted in a shot bird. After going through a number of males I can honestly say this one appears to be a keeper.

Lastly, the last few minutes of legal shooting light Cross Timber’s Above and Beyond, UT I locked on point at the edge of a small cliff. My son climbed up there and the bird fell to his 7 1/2 lead shot. I’m sure that one will be engraved in the memory bank. It’s the memories we share with our dogs and the folks we love that makes all this hard work worth it!

Cross Timber’s Jump Shot (AKA AUTO) was tested in our local OKNAVHDA Chapter by his owner Jeffrey Metheney this past weekend. I was out there testing Creed Sunday as well, so I was able to see him run the test. Auto put on a show in every part of the test and earned the max NA score of 112 pts.

Thanks Jeff for putting in the time!Jeffrey and his wife are the kinds of dedicated owners that we feel good about selling a pup to. Jeffrey hunts a lot, and this dog will see a boat load of birds this year. Jeffrey has come to several training days with AUTO, so I’ve had the privelage of seeing him several times before test day. He’s a nice dog out of (Flatlander’s Chicago Bandit X Cross Timber’s Duchess Dani)

“Cross Timber’s Implement The Plan”(AKA CREED) earned the max score of 112 in his NAVHDA Natural Ability test yesterday.

I’ve been impressed with this dog in more ways than I can express. Creed launches into the water for retrieves and swiftly covers a field in search of birds.

Creed has been a joy to work with so far and has been displaying certain things in training that suggest he is truly special, such as, the day when (at a mere 6 months old) he totally disappeared, body and all, with “only his tail” out of the water only to come up with the diving duck in his mouth! He has went under water twice for ducks now, so not a fluke.

I went through 6 males to find this one who I expect to one day represent our program well, and who I expect to become a top stud for our Cross Timber breeding program one day.

Only time will tell, but right now I’m feeling really good about him!

I’ve been training Oxbow’s Muskogee Merle (AKA TRIPP) for several months now. Trip certainly brought his A game today and earned a Utility Prize I with a max score of 204. I certainly can’t take all the credit for his success today as his owner Alex Burkdoll put in some training time with Tripp, especially during his first few years of life. He is now 6 years old.

I appreciate his owner Alex Burkdoll for allowing me to take Tripp on for this task. I also appreciate Calvin Harpe for producing such a nice male.

Oxbow’s Muskogee Merle, UT I will be joining Cedarwood’s Cowboy Oakley, UT I as a stud dog for our breeding program.
