Our own Lee has been seeing the U of I for his allergies. We are trying to reduce the barriers for his adoption! Huge thank you to our board president for taking him to all his appointments!

When Lee began visiting the Dermatology/Otology Service, he was struggling with chronic ear infections. His ears were painful, and he wasn't sure he could trust just anybody to treat him. At a recent visit, Lee's ear infections were resolved, and he's on his way to controlling the allergies that caused them!

Lee is a new man who's making friends all over the building, including Kelly, a 4th-year veterinary student. He was proud to pose with her for a photo. 🥰

My friend Carol posted Toad Stool yesterday, and I remembered I had taken her pictures back in May of 2024. She certainly did deserve a repost.

Anyway, this is four-year-old Toad Stool who is both an orange tabby female and has a bobtail, which is extremely rare. But I never suggest adopting for looks; I always suggest picking for personality, and this girl has a quiet, not-in-your-face personality. She enjoys sleeping the day away in the winter and intently watching the birds in the sunshine of summer.

Camry
Chihuahua/ Mix

This guy will have you smiling as soon as you meet him with his comical and happy little personality! Camry is listed as a chihuahua mix, but I see some Jack Russell and maybe some Doxie in the “mix.” Camry is only 6 months old, so will need all the training that comes with having a puppy. If you’re ready to commit to all that a puppy needs to grow and develop, then Camry might be a great match. This guy is a ton of fun and is sure to bring a lot of smiles to his new family. Little (f) Bo (m) and Peep (f) are three-and-a-half-month-old kittens available to adopt through TAPS. (I will post individual pictures of them later).

This group of kittens started life as strays in a barn until someone kind and wanting better for them secured a safe place at TAPS. TAPS might have said yes, but that was the beginning, as the real work took place when a foster family loved, cared for, and socialized them.

TOAD STOOL is just the sweetest little girl. We do not get many orange tabbies and we do not get many bobtail cats and she is BOTH. She was found living in a barn with her babies and taken to an animal control and then came to Taps. I think the only reason she is still here is she is a bit shy and hangs back when people come in the room and lets the other cats get all the attention. She needs someone patient to give her the time to be her best self. You will not be disappointed if you adopt her!
Her favorite thing in the summer is watching birds from the windowsill but winter calls for a nap. She is four years old.

Have you ever wanted to volunteer with animals? If so, there is no time like now to get involved! Start 2025 out right! Volunteering is good exercise and also good for the heart. TAPS has a Volunteer Orientation tomorrow, Thursday, January 16th at 3:30pm, Saturday, January 18th at 10:30am, or Saturday, February 8th at 10:30am at TAPS. We need dog walkers, volunteers for cat and kitten socialization, help with events, fundraisers, and offsites, volunteers with fundraising or organizing experience, vet run drivers, etc... TAPS is a non-profit and cannot survive without dedicated volunteer and donors. You can also volunteer as a family. Kids can volunteer with parent supervision from age 8-15. Hi there, I'm Ross! An adorable 5-month-old tuxedo boy who came to the shelter with my sibling from a nearby animal control. We were just itty bitty so we went straight to live with an awesome foster family until we were ready for adoption!! Well, that time has come and all of my siblings have been adopted, leaving just me.

My foster mom has this to say about me "Ross is a very sweet cuddly guy looking for a lap to sleep on! He has the cutest little black ring on his tail!" Ross is playful, kid, and cat friendly!!

Nyla is an itty bitty pitty who is JUST perfection. She is adorable in purple, very sweet, dog friendly, and good with children from what we have seen. She is about 35-40 lbs full grown. She was found as stray- appearing to have had puppies recently.

It’s safe to say Phantom is kid friendly 💛 This guy is constantly overlooked because he has to be on a prescription food. He is so sweet and has the cutest pink nose.
