The Face Behind Manawatu Farrier Services

For those who don’t know me already, I’m Scott Penn. A second-generation farrier. I did my apprenticeship with my dad Eddie Penn at Kapiti Farrier Services, where I learned the ropes from the ground up. Now, with Manawatu Farrier Services, I bring that same dedication to every horse I work with.

For me, it’s not just about hooves—it’s about keeping horses comfortable, sound, and performing their best. Whether it’s trims, shoeing, or just a quiet moment to build trust, I take pride in the work I do.

10 years, countless horses, and a world of learning.

The first photo was taken when I was just starting out—full of enthusiasm, sweat, and a steep learning curve. Fast forward to today, and while the passion remains the same, experience has brought skill, efficiency, and a deeper understanding of the craft.

Every hoof trimmed, every horse handled, and every lesson learned has shaped the farrier I am today. It’s a journey I’m proud of and one I’m still walking (or bending over for)!

Thank you to all the horses and owners who’ve been part of the last decade. Here’s to many more years of keeping hooves healthy and horses happy! 🐴

We’re wrapping up for the year! Our last day of work will be Monday, December 23rd, and we’ll be taking a well-earned break over the holiday season.

We’ll be back to work from Monday, January 6th. If you’d like to book in for the new year, send us a message, and we’ll get it sorted!
