The Dangers of Dogs Eating Socks: Prevention and Awareness
Dogs eating socks might seem harmless, but it can lead to life-threatening gastrointestinal blockages that often require surgery. If your pet has passed a sock without complications, consider yourself lucky—this isn’t always the case.
💎Bella’s Story💎
Bella, a playful pup, recently underwent surgery to remove socks from her stomach. This procedure involved an incision to extract the items before they caused further harm. Thankfully, it was caught in time, but delays can result in more dangerous outcomes.
💎Prevention Tips💎
1. **Educate Your Family**: Teach kids to keep socks and other small items out of reach.
2. **Secure Laundry**: Use hampers with lids to prevent access.
3. **Supervise Playtime**: Monitor your dog, especially if they’re prone to chewing on clothes.
4. **Consider Crating**: When unsupervised, crate your dog if they’re known to get into trouble.
Taking these preventive steps can save your dog’s life and spare you from emergency vet visits and surgery!

Are you frustrated when your dog’s front leg lameness disappears by the time you get to the vet? This is common and we believe you when you swear the limp was there. The adrenaline and excitement often masks the pain.
One helpful tip: make a video of your dog walking when the limp is present at home. This will give your vet a good starting point to diagnose and treat your furry friend!

Best Pet Hack for Reducing Pet Hair!
Does your house look like it’s full of pet hair tumbleweeds? I’ve got the ultimate pet hack to help you reduce all that hair in your life! How, after nearly two decades of being a vet, have I just recently discovered this!
You need the Dyson Pet Grooming Attachment! This lifesaver is perfect for dogs with a thick coat and it’s fun to do. Even kids will love to help.
Pro Pet Tip:
💎Brush first and then vacuum as the hair fills the brush. Some dogs (like mine) don’t love the sound of the vacuum.
💎I would only recommend in dogs with thick undercoats as bristles may irritate skin of a thin coated dog.
Say goodbye to furry hallways and black pants that look like you just rolled around with a polar bear, and hello to a cleaner life! 🏠❤️

Do you have a pet that is scared of loud noises or gets overstimulated with large groups and activity?
With July 4th just around the corner, it’s time to prepare your pets for fireworks. While we enjoy the celebrations, our pets can find the loud noises incredibly scary and stressful.
Remembering this on July 3rd won’t give your pets healthcare team an opportunity to help them so we recommend that you:
📅 Schedule an appointment with your veterinarian ASAP to discuss medications or calming solutions to keep your pets safe and comfortable during the festivities.
If your pet is crate trained, this can be a comfortable, safe place to reduce stress and anxiety during all the festivities.
Don’t wait until the last minute! Ensure your pets have a peaceful and anxiety-free Independence Day. 🐶🐱❤️

**🌞 5 Tips to Keep Your Pets Cool This Summer! 🐾**
Summer is here, and while we enjoy the sunshine, it’s crucial to keep our furry friends safe from the heat. Here are five simple tips to prevent your pets from overheating:
1.☀️Avoid peak heat hours from 10am to 4pm. Walk your pets during the cooler parts of the day, early morning or late evening, to avoid the intense midday heat and hot pavement.
2.💧Hydration is Key! Always ensure your pet has access to fresh, cool water. Bring a portable water bowl when you’re out and about.
3.💨Extra caution for our smush faced brachycephalic dogs. These breeds are higher risk of overheating and having difficulty breathing. Avoid the heat more strictly and keep them inside. If you have to be outside, you can also gently mist them with water, provide a fan and ice pack or frozen towel while under a shaded area to help keep their body temperature down. Air-conditioned spaces are ideal!
4.🧊Stay cool in the pool: Water can keep your pets cool, but an option like a kiddie pool is easy and safe. Always make sure you supervise this activity in any water.
5.🚘Life saving tip!
Never EVER Leave your furry child in the car. Even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside a car can rise rapidly, leading to very dangerous conditions for your pet.
Keep these tips in mind and enjoy a fun, safe summer with your pets! 💎
