Hi! My name is Mari Mitchell and I am the founder and trainer at Peaceful Pups Dog Training.
In 2021, I welcomed my first dog into my home, a lovely German Shepherd named Bumi. Little did I know when I first got him that we would go through a shared journey into the world of dog training. During Bumi's adolescence, he developed severe fear and reactivity, stemming from poor genetics and my lack of understanding canine behavior.
Determined to make a positive change, I enlisted the help of a canine behaviorist who taught me invaluable lessons including how to read dog body language, implement management strategies, and the power of counter-conditioning. This was the beginning of my development of a deep passion for dog training that has further intensified over these past four years.
Currently, I am proudly a trainer at Clever Paws where I teach puppy classes, as well as starting out volunteering with service dog organizations to gain insight in the process of training service dogs. I myself am training my own service dog as last June I received a diagnosis that lead medical professionals believing a service dog will help diminish the symptoms.
My mission goes beyond my personal growth. I aspire to aid and empower pet owners by providing information on responsible breeding practices, genetics, and early-life socialization. My goal is to help prevent other dogs from facing the challenges that Bumi did. I dream of assisting others in owner training their service dogs, recognizing the financial and time constraints owner training takes!
I am also currently working towards becoming accredited through the CPDT, as I believe it is very important for trainers to continually educate themselves on training practices. Look forward to meeting you all!
