Westridge Farm Westridge Farm is conveniently located in Southeast Wisconsin near Milwaukee. We welcome your inquiries at 262-378-0590 or [email protected]

Westrige Farm is owned by James Work, DVM and his wife Parvin and is a private breeder and importer of German Holsteiners. Both Jim and Parvin have been involved with horses in various capacities for over 30 years. We breed, raise, show and sell Holsteiners for the jumping and dressage markets. In 2003, Parvin traveled to Germany and purchased her first 3 Holsteiner foals. These foals became the f

oundation of Westridge Farm. Since that time, several additional imports have been added to the Westridge family and have helped create our successful breeding program. The Westridge Farm previously maintained a small group of horses in Germany for the following reasons: (1) The access to a large variety of top international stallions for our broodmares is outstanding. (2) Foal inspections are numerous, conveniently located and well attended. This makes the foal evaluation process very competitive. (3) Access to numerous top training and competition opportunities for stallions.

Horse Show fever everywhere in Dublin😂

The leadline ponies at the Dublin Horse Show were exquisite, as were the traditional outfits of the handlers! Delightful to watch❤️

The Amateur Hunters at the Dublin Horse Show were interesting to see! Watch as the judge asks them to „canter on“- they really move! After their amateur riders completed the class, a test rider got on each horse and rode it at all 3 gaits with a simple change and a gallop at the end. When she was done, the saddle was removed and the horse was presented to another judge in the same arena for conformation evaluation. The entire class took a good 45 minutes. Attire for hunter riders throughout the show was fox hunting based, with tweed coats and canary breeches…not a pair of Tailored Sportsman in sight, not even at the vendor booths:)Also, hunters are divided into categories: Heavy Weight, Medium and Light. All were gorgeous!

❤️Amazing story!

This is a lovely story to come out of the Paris Games - such a good equestrian story to tug the heart strings.

From a post by Thoms Lehmann at Nordrhein-Westfälisches Landgestüt, · Warendorf, Germany (Translated)

Life writes the most beautiful stories, but some are almost too beautiful to be true.

Once upon a time a little 14-year-old boy began his service at the Warendorf Landstudüt. The former state stallmaster Bresges soon recognized the special talent of the young stud keeper and sent him to Vienna at the end of the 50s for training at the Spanish Horse Riding School.

When he returned, he was entrusted with a beautiful, noble mold stallion - his resounding name RADEZKY. The young stud keeper let RADEZKY ride the horse to the Grand Prix.

The couple fascinated experts as horse lovers of their time equally, but since state horses were never allowed to be used in tournament sports (competitions) at that time, this remained forbidden for riders and horses.

The two were among the best of their time and many saw a hopeful Olympic couple in RADEZKY and his rider, but they were not given that chance.

The rider became the main saddle master, i.e. the highest ranking stud keeper. He was famous for his arts and his calm and soulful treatment with stallions.

When he retired, he took care of his grandchildren's first riding lessons - as a grandfather should. Today his grandson became Olympic winner in Paris, in probably the hardest (showjump) jump in history, with absolute calmness and feeling, as his grandfather taught him as a child.

Those who knew the proud nature of chief saddle master Franz Kukuk knows - today the always white polished buttons would have been blown off his service uniform!

His grandson Christian has today realized the dream that his grandfather was denied - Christian Kukuk is an Olympian for eternity.

His winning horse named Checker has a remarkable pedigree. In the ninth generation of his pedigree there is a stallion named RADETZKY, the horse that his grandfather loved so much.

Above the white clouds of Versailles, a proud grandfather and a white stallion are celebrating today —- probably the most beautiful story of their lives.

(Picked up from the Australian Dressage Discussion page, thankyou.)

Our 4 year old Trakehner mare, Indy, went directly from her summer pasture to a week of camp with Sara Rhodes and has been stellar😍Her future is bright! Indy is a half sister to our previously approved stallion, Nitro. She has the very best disposition and is a perfect size! # # # # # #

While we are tucked away in an air-conditioned truck with comfy seats, our horses are bouncing and swaying in the back.

Unlike many may think, horses don't actually sleep or rest in the trailer. Their body is constantly moving and making adjustments to stay upright - Just like we do when we are standing in the bus or train.

Researchers from Massey University in New Zealand sought to measure how much vertical and horizontal movement horses have when in a trailer. With two horses loaded up into a two-horse, they took a 58-minute trip and here is what they found:

📍In total, horse 1 moved over 228 ft and horse 2 moved over 320 ft vertically
📍Horizontally, Horse 1 moved 745 ft and Horse 2 moved 797 ft
📍Both horses swayed over 11 inches

Next time you load up for a show, clinic, lesson, etc., give your horse a break before jumping right on.

Didi Engler is back in the show pen and in the buckles at age 86 after a lifetime of loving the sport because of a rule change allowing non pro riders age 65-plus to hold the horn.

So hard to believe that our friend and fellow equestrian Richard is gone. His pancreatic cancer diagnosis was a shock to all. He loved his horses and was always warm and welcoming with a great sense of humor. May he rest in peace🙏.
