It's been a freezing night during which I ( Lucy speaking) warmed my several- socked feet on cats not crowding my arms or on my head!

I'm featuring Franky pony here because he is not one of the 7 horses set to leave LIFE for great futures in Italy. Franky will stay with me and be a key supportive shoulder for Amber to lean on, too when their mini-herd buddies leave.

Thank you, Franky. Think we're going to have one of our warming chats later today when the caravan field will suddenly seem so empty...

⭐️🐴 ⭐️Lucy’s phone fell into a bucket this morning! Oh Lordy, a repeat of last November! Back to today, Lucy was in a thoughtful reminiscing mood this evening as the enormity of what’s happening in the morning really sank in! If you’ve ever said goodbye to a horse, for whatever reason or have a deep passion for horses you’ll understand that it hurts really bad but has to be done at times… 🐴🤍🐴

Lucy, ‘The sun went down tonight over a core group of rescued horses who may never see their field companions again after tomorrow. But they'll be travelling together. Here at LIFE we don't separate horses to sell to the highest bidder as though they were inanimate objects without feelings common to all mammals. We don't sell them at all. We look for the best futures for them and let them go to those far away futures because their wellbeing into the future means so much more than money’…

At LIFE… Excitement together with anxiety is mounting for Lucy as the departure of 7 of the rescued and rehabilitated horses to Nicole in Italy gets closer by the day. 🚛🐴🇮🇹

🐕‍🦺🦋🐕‍🦺 Wes and Dede’s sweet mother called Kalinka turned up at LIFE’s gate last week with a serious paw injury and broken leg. With enormous thanks and gratitude to LIFE’s supporters her trip to the Vets and treatment bill has been covered and she’s mending well.🦋🏥🐕‍🦺

🐄 This week has seen last night Bernie the Bull finally release his held in gas and feeling a whole lot happier too! 👌🏼… His colicky spell was mostly caused by drinking less water in the recent cold snap! 👍🏼🪣🐄

🇮🇹🐴🚛 … Last week saw Helen Burrows launch LIFE’s massive Go Fund Me appeal for 10 horses/ponies to travel to their amazing secure futures in Italy with Nicole. It’s a huge development and a win win on all sides. Lucy can not cope forever with so many equines under her wing! Nicole stepping in with her longterm solution solves the natural lifetime for 10 equines in just one transport! A good start of £1,320.00 has been raised, thank you to everyone who’s donated so far, another £4,680.00 still to achieve. ⛄️ Its been cold and wintery on the British Isles too. Last week two gorgeous adopted LIFE dogs, Luna and Didi had a fabulous time out on the Brecon mountains. There are many more dogs still waiting at LIFE, most adopters come back for a second, even third dog! Here at LIFE we desperately need to find more dogs their adoption, we’re always ready to go when you are! Next transportation to U.K. is January 2025… ⛄️🐶🏔

🐕‍🦺 At LIFE… This week has seen DeDe safely and happily U.K. arrive, Wesley settled into living the U.K. only dreamed of previously by a dog LIFE…🐕‍🦺🤍🏃‍♂️

👠🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺🐕‍🦺👠Willis of the Shoe shop trio is off to her lovely forever home by the seaside to the U.K. in January… This leaves young Freeman and Hardy, any home offers U.K. out there to get all 3 sisters Vet work ready for the January bus to U.K. ? Wouldn’t that be an absolutely fabulous start to 2025…. 👠🚌🐕‍🦺🏡👠

🐄 Bernie the bullock has been in medication this week for tummy Colicky troubles… He’s been very stoic and is well on his way back to his usual antics full self! 🐄🏥💚

🐕‍🦺 With Wesley safely arrived and quickly settled into his new home in England, next DeDe will be off, so most of the marvellous encouraging news is centred around the smaller LIFE dogs today… 🗞 🐶🐾

We’ve had a lovely update about Ralph/aka Billy who's settled perfectly into his home. He gets on with his adopter's older dog nicely and is responding well to early training.
That's a LIFE dog for you says Lucy!

Maudie, an older girl of collie type recently Uk adopted can be seen taking up driving a car!

👠Willis of the Shoe Shop sisters is fingers crossed for a New Year adoption. 👍🏼🧳 🚐
This leaves two young shop girls Freeman and Hardy still looking out for a home. 👠🐕‍🦺👠

Little Bobby needs his life turning around! Abandoned at LIFE recently when he bit a child. He's a slightly loose cannon but Lucy says it was a mistake to leave him unsupervised with small children.
Normally nice character but not for a home with kids would be best for Bobby!

Tilly has slipped by to say Hello and get noticed!

⛄️ It’s rather wet and winterly cold on the dogs hillside at LIFE in Bulgaria but they’ve straw in their kennels at night now while dreaming of a safe warm home for their future winters… Meanwhile it is an absolute daily struggle for Lucy to see to so many dogs every day! Let’s get more dogs adopted, we’re ready to go! ⛄️🦮🚶‍♀️

📌 LIFE'S supporters in Bulgaria. 📌

🐕‍🦺 Because you are here in Bulgaria you will understand that winter is definitely on its way and how severe the conditions can be. Just imagine then what it would feel like to spend the long winter months at The Haven as many dogs will be doing. It's a lovely place in warm weather but not a good place to be in snow, icy winds and heavy rain.

Adoptions have been few and far this year, along with every other Rescue. For every dog that has been homed at least two more have had to be taken in.
As a consequence Lucy hasn't been able to create enough spaces to bring the dogs who are currently at The Haven down to Homesite until Spring which is what she had been hoping to do. It's a worrying position to be in, especially after so much effort has gone into trying to find homes for them all.

So could you help out by fostering a dog and taking it into your home just for the winter?

You will have picked up from Lucy's own posts that she is finding things quite difficult at the moment and knowing that as many dogs as possible were indoors during the bad weather would make a world of difference to her and the dogs.

Any offer to help can be formalised through a Notarised Agreement for the fosterer's peace of mind. Please share too as someone who is not currently a supporter may be interested in helping.

If even one dog gets a warm home for the winter it will be wonderful. Any of the dogs in LIFE'S album are available for a foster placement so please have a look. 🐕‍🦺🦮🐕‍🦺

Gorgeous little Freeman of the Freeman Hardy and Willis shoeshop girls has rather palatial quarters in the used side of our barn where cata are fed. She's in there because she was another pup attacked when husky cross dogs were out. Luckily her injuries are minor and she loves getting special individual attention when her meds are applied.

Rayna on the right, our newest rescue, was at the vet this morning as I had concerns about her despite her good appetite. It turns out she's another anaemia victim, so iron tablets as well as antibiotics for her.

As ever, any help with our vet bills is much appreciated. Dede had a pre travel passport update and tests just before she leaves will cost nearly 40 pounds. As no adopter is covering this ( she's to be homed from the UK) I have to ask if anyone could possibly step up for her.

Beautiful Dazzler has a superb offer of adoption in Italy but paperwork is holding things up. Poor Petra, at the gate of her pen longs fir someone to show interest in her but no-one does,
Just-named Joanne is in the car with me on the way to het spay op and Dede and Rayna are also heading to the vet. We've fingers crossed for wee Sarah kitty as she's never been well enough for vaccination and now has what looks like cat flu.
Half my time it sometimes seems is spent on vet trips , a lot of my pension and a lot of our kind supporters ' money!
