The babies are nibbling at some solids :)the babies we raise aren't on a weaning schedule the way most think of weaning schedules. We start introducing foods for them to nibble at pretty early, and eventually they're so enthusiastic about their solid diet they start refusing feedings of formula. Can you guess which was a favorite?
Comment what you think!
1. Banana
2. Sweet potato
3. Papaya
What type of bird should you get?

Keeping your furry and scaly friends comfortable during a polar vortex is no joke. Every animal is different and has unique needs to brave the cold. Here are some tips to keep your pets and livestock safe and happy:
Warm-blooded animals need:
More food to keep their internal engines chugging.
Water that isn't frozen, and maybe heated up for extra coziness.
Straw is a solid choice (avoid blankets and hay which can freeze and get soggy) if your pet is outside.
Cats and most dogs should be brought indoors, since they're not cut out for the cold.
Hay is a must-have for ruminants like horses, donkeys, cows, and goats, it keeps their bellies warm, and they're not as likely to get sick (Straw can work for goats and donkeys although it's best to check with a vet.) Make sure they have water available, as constipation, colic, and bloat can be deadly.
Protection from wind and rain is also a must.
Warm-blooded animals include dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, pigs, goats, and birds.
Cold-blooded animals need:
No food, since they can't digest food when they're cold, it can harm them!
They might even fall into a deep sleep (called torpor), which isn't ideal but not necessarily dangerous.
Wrap a travel-sized carrier/habitat or cardboard box with blankets or towels and put a bottle with warm water wrapped in a sock *or* hand warmers wrapped in a sock. Put them in a non-drafty area. Make sure they can get away from the heat if they need to. Use your body heat if necessary and possible (obviously not for fish!).
Cold-blooded animals include lizards, snakes, tortoises, turtles, and fish.
