Phoenix has had to deal with a lot since being rescued. She was rescued with her brother Emery around 4 weeks old. Phoenix's botfly wounds caused her cerebellum to be underdeveloped and has cerebellar hypoplasia. Emery, a year ago as of yesterday, crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈. His wounds were too severe and he was not able to overcome them. We miss him dearly and hope he is watching over us and proud of how far Phoenix has come. Phoenix went from only moving in circles to now being able to hop straight. Her strength keeps improving and her joyous heart is still the same.
May Phoenix and Emery's story remind us all why it is so dangerous for rabbits to live outside. Botflies are real and can cause serious harm to rabbits. It cost Emery his life and Phoenix to have a neurological disorder.

A local shelter reached out to help with grooming for an angora and lionhead. Well the lionhead is a jersey wooly and had lots of matting. The matting is now gone and we are sure he is feeling so much more comfortable. The angora lop was absolutely stunning, no matting, but helped trim down the fur on his face so everyone can see those beautiful blue eyes. Our bun crew is shedding and need extra grooming. Be sure to brush them out more and give them lots of love in the process.

She had 6 active botflies and spent the beginning of her rescue journey at the vet to ensure she recovered from all the wounds. Morticia is part of Phoenix and Emery's rescue.
