Would appreciate any local (Thurston County) suggestions to a vet that would be able to help determine if this sweet girl has something going on with her sight.

Cali will be looking for her forever home here soon, and I want to make sure she has the best possible start. I have had a bit of a suspicion there might be going on. Spending time with her, I have noticed she does something that Milo would do when he began to lose his sight. She follows close behind and will boop my heel, often stepping on my shoe - giving me a flat tire. She isn't herding me and has been very responsive and polite when I ask for space. She has been seen for this before and there has not been any concern.

All this said, she is a nervous girl - could simply be a new quirk she developed.

These two handsome Beagle boys were recently here for a short stay, while their family welcomed their new human sibling ❤️

I had the lovely opportunity to meet and work with Norman at Watson several months ago during some of my time over at Carolyn's Canine Retreat (located in Olympia right off of highway 101), a lovely local dog daycare and kennel free boarding facility. Highly suggest them if you or someone you know, have dog friendly pups in need of daycare and kennel free boarding 🐾 They will absolutely love your dog like one of their own.

Both these boys struggle a bit with reactivity. Daycares with lots of buddies proved to be a little overwhelming for them. They don't have much patience for puppies, energetic pups or overly confident personalities and would take their corrections a bit too far. Becoming a concern for safety. They simply need a constant eye, and guidance as they continue to develop their social skills with other canines.

Over their stay we worked on polite interactions, supported basic obedience and worked on recall (a tough skill for these two with such incredible noses 😅).

Both boys did so well and even showed me a very playful side I had not seen before!

Welcoming this adorable little lad, Hugo 🐾

Hugo, a 16 week old Lagotto Romagnolo, who traveled up from southern California for an extended stay to get a good paw forward in training.

Over his stay, we will be working on everything from potty training, crate training, basic obedience, leash skills, and social skills with other canines and humans in his life. Once we have a good foundation we will then be taking those skills and putting them into practice in dog friendly public spaces to cultivate manners and help Hugo understand that sharing space with others does not mean we have to interact with them.

Three days in, and he is already doing wonderful and settling into new routines.

After completing a three week board and train, Ollie came back to join Enzo for a few days to practice the skills they both worked so hard to cultivate together.

These adorable boys love to hype each other up, feeding into reactivity and rude interactions. They have gone back and forth with overwhelming each other, pushing for play or interaction when the other is no into it. Simply, they got to work on their manners with each other and while out in public spaces to help them both understand that all the new skills, rules and boundaries they have been practicing apply to everyone - and everywhere they visit.

Both boys did so well, and were much more relaxed with each other by the end of their stay 🐾

Sweet and handsome Boston Terrier, Enzo, recently completed a three week board and train to help fine tune his basic obedience, canine social skills, and most importantly - to help grow his confidence as a whole.

He made big strides over his stay.

Recall, relaxing, and staying in place for extended periods we're really tough for this boy, but by his third week, Enzo was much more relaxed and engaging with the world with healthier curiosity 🐾

Ollie has been such a good example for his nervous brother, Enzo 🐾

That said, Enzo has been doing well, definitely a nervous boy. He loves the company of the other dogs but we have some manners to learn. He doesn't catch the cues from the other pups when they don't want to engage and will work himself up.

No problem, he is in a good space to learn and support more polite interactions.

Remember Ollie? A handsome Boston Terrier friend?

Well, he and his brother are here for a short stay while their parents are away.

Ollie was here not too long ago for a 3 week board and train to work on basic obedience and reactivity on the lead. Over their stay, he is brushing up on his training and doing absolutely fantastic! He got right into the swing of things and has floored me with his obedience. It's clear his owners have been putting things into practice.

Enzo, has a different opinion so far 😅

Remember Enzo? (Formerly Herbert)

He came to me from California after completing several weeks of Board and Train with a facility in Orange County, originally to work through increasing reactivity with other dogs and people. He made huge strides and proved to be a very well-mannered buddy.

Unfortunately, his family realized that they could not provide the consistency needed to give such a strong-willed breed a good life. Especially with the added challenges of helping a human family member work through complicated mental and emotional challenges.

He came up to continue his training and dive deeper into developing his skills with other canines and people.

Happy to report that he very likely found his forever home and has proven to be an amazing and loyal companion.

Sometimes, rehoming is the best option for everyone all around ❤️

Welcoming this lovely lady, Cali 🐾

A very nervous girl here for decompression and training before transitioning a new home.

I had the pleasure of working with Cali well over three years ago during my time at the farm in Maple Valley.

Although her owner was able to make big strides with her - it's just not a good fit.

Cali is a bit unique, she didn't have the best start in life and had to be quarantined for most of her formative months. She didn't get to spend the necessary and important time with her momma and siblings that ultimately help in learning her language as a canine - to support healthy and peaceful interactions.

So happy to be able to support her and help continue her growth and confidence so that she can live a peaceful and fullfilling life.
