My purchase of a well bred purebred dog does not condemn another dog to death.
My purchase of a well bred purebred dog does not lead to shelter dogs growing.
My desire to have a dog with a predictable temperament of a healthy line does not lead to another dog not being adopted into the shelter.
My careful research of the most responsible breeders who meet all the requirements is not the problem. Not what you should be mad at.
You don't have to blame who.
I am not the one who irresponsibly brought these dogs into this world and left them in a shelter.
Responsible breeders also aren't the ones taking these dogs to animal shelters.
This is my home, my life and my choice what kind of dog I want to bring. Maybe I need a work dog, sport dog, show dog, or just a companion dog of a certain breed that suits me best.
For whatever reason I choose to support a reputable breeder, he won't send an animal protection dog to its death.
A breeder who does health tests, temperament tests and pedigree on their dog does not contribute to the number of stray dogs.
The number of stray dogs in the world is a problem, but not a problem that is worsened by reputable breeders and those who buy from them.
Your neighbor who quickly jumps over the border to whoever breeder and gets an undocumented "purebred" dog because it's so cheap and poor is contributing to the problem.
Your friend who spontaneously bought a puppy is contributing to the problem.
This guy who wants to recreate the hottest design mix asap is contributing to the problem.
Your relatives who have to cover their dog once, "to experience motherhood" or because "she's so cute" are contributing to the problem.
Your old school friend who bought a high energy guard dog without taking the time to study its needs and character and eventually sees it doesn't match his lifestyle, is her problem.
Respected breeder offers lifetime support. A serious breeder would never have allowed his dogs to end up in a shelter from the beginning.
It's understandable to be angry about the number of stray dogs in the world, but if you look closer, you'll find your anger is inappropriate.
If you look closer you'll find that serious breeders and those of us who buy dogs from them are just as angry as you are.
Just pointing fingers at the real causes.
