A friend, the founder of an animal sanctuary, posted this on FB today:
"These two were loved. But a homeless man who had no shoes knew he could no longer care for them so he walked into Animal Control and surrendered his precious friends. He did the right thing so we had to, too. We stepped in to save their lives. These dear souls are very fearful of people and need complete medical.
"Both Coco and Stitch also need sponsors. Sponsoring a Stardust pup is $600 for a full year or $50 per month. Please consider sponsoring one of our new friends for one or more months or consider donating any amount to help us meet Coco and Stitch's every need. You can become a Sponsor through the link below. Please include your desire to sponsor Coco or Stitch in the Paypal Note section.
"Our mission is to save the ones left behind. We are able to step in and save precious souls like Coco and Stitch because of the generosity of our wonderful supporters and followers. Thank you for being on this sanctuary journey with us."
My Comment:
Thank you for helping these beloveds.
This story breaks my heart in pieces. This man has no home, no support network, no *shoes*, and now he has lost his family. He should not have had to give up his loved ones for them, and him, to receive care.
If people can take animals into their homes to care for them as fosters, if they can contribute to organizations for their care, why don't we have ways for people to contribute directly to those in need, allowing families to stay together? This country, the richest in the world, is so cruel. We need to envision new ways of caring for each other.
