We are sharing a very sad update on our beloved Mr A (now Arthur) - our worst possible fears have been confirmed and vets at both our practice and the specialists have unanimously agreed that he should be placed on a palliative care plan. To say we are devastated is in understatement 💔

We now need to find a palliative care home for Arthur. The vets estimate he has around 3 months left but we suspect he may stay with us for longer - although his time to cross the rainbow bridge will be informed by his quality of life, levels of pain etc. The remaining monies from his fundraiser will be used to cover his end of life care, including Librella injections to help his old-boy pain.

Arthur needs a calm and happy home where he will be given the highest standard of love and care - this is time for him to be spoilt. He has a bit of a Wishlist for his final stop👇🏻

✅ Calm and in a world kept small - he is quite anxious of new things and doesn’t need lots of adventures. A busy home would be too much for him.
✅ Would like to have a canine companion if possible, he likes other dogs and would not like a home where he was left alone much.
✅ Someone who is physically able and strong, as he will need some physical support (lifting), especially towards the end.
✅ Able to get him to Axe Valley Vets, and local to us (Somerset, Bristol, Weston)
✅ Someone who will stay with him in his final moments, when the time comes 🌈

My name is Nicky and I am based in Swynnerton, Staffordshire

I dog sit in my own home, sorry I cannot offer dog sitting in your home.

As I sit in my own home, I please ask that your dog is freshly washed before their stay with me and also important is to wash your dogs bedding and blankets, as they harbour smells, and with having so many dogs in the year in my own home, I have to do everything I can to help my home smell sweeter and not purely of dogs. I thank you for your understanding and agreeing to this condition.

Deposit: A non refundable 50% deposit at the time of booking - remainder to be paid on day of drop off. Please note the deposit is NOT transferable from the date originally booked.

2024 Prices are:
£28 per day, per dog, including overnight - if collected by 10am on the day of collection, there will be no charge for that day.

£33 per day, per dog, including overnight for Bank Holiday Weekends

Christmas and New Year rates ( Saturday 21st 2024 - 1st Jan 2025) £43 per day, per dog.

Also, if your doggy is unable to be let off the lead, I offer a service to take your doggy to a special enclosed paddock. They charge £9 per hour so all I charge is the £9 to cover that cost and a £4.00 charge towards my fuel to get there and back. - Please let me know if you would like to include this in the booking.

Please note, I understand that situations occur from time to time when possibly something comes up and you are unable to collect your dog at the agreed time, maybe for example if your flights have ben cancelled or delayed. I will do my upmost to accommodate your dog, but you will be charged for the extra day/s at the normal rate. Thank you

Look who arrived on Thursday...my little Misty Moo Moo!

I took her with me to Ripon this weekend on a mini getaway to see my brother!

She is an absolute diamond in the car, and wherever we go she is soooo good, so proud of her. Apart from waking me up growling at herself in the mirror! 😆

She's a total joy to have, and wins everybody's heart wherever she goes.

To all my clients that have had your doggy stay over this year with me.

Have I, by accident included in your doggys bag, a lead that is navy blue with white spots by mistake?

I have mislaid a clients, I thought her dog had dragged it off somewhere and I would eventually locate it, but it hasn't happened.

So trying this instead

Being a dog sitter, I pride myself on offering a unique service where I only have 1 or 2 dogs at a time from different homes. Occasionally it could go to 3 to 4 dogs at a time, when there is a overlap of a day or two with owners dates crossing, but this is exception, not the norm.

I only do this if dogs are ok with other dogs and most importantly, I do not take all the dogs for a walk at the same time. And I do not let your dogs off the lead unless you have paid for a run in the enclosed dog Park. To me, it is just not worth the risk of a dog being spooked and running off.

For me, If you are are walking a 'pack' of dogs, and even worse if they are off the lead, if anything unfortunate happened like another dog tried to attack 1 of your pack or if off the lead, one got spooked and ran off, there is very little you can do at that moment to help as you have a pack of other dogs to care for and get back to the car before you can do anything.

That to me is not acceptable, your dogs safety is 100% my primary concern, and I would be totally heartbroken if a dog ran off or was injured by another dog, never mind being in a large pack and unable to assist at that very moment.

Yes, I could earn more money by having multiple dogs staying, but my first concern is the safety and well-being of your beautiful furry friend.

I would just like to add, I am not saying the above is right or wrong, its just how I feel and not what I would want fir my dog. If my Harvey was still with me and I needed a sitter, I wouldn't want him going to a place where there are lots of dogs, thats one reason why I started Doggy Paws, 1 to 1 care, love and safety
