Lace was off being a Mum and I had taken over the ride on Tigger... No chance to start slowly though we were in the middle of the season and so it was straight into the longer rides - First up 100km at Kuratau and then straight on to the North Island Champs!

With Lace in the broodmare paddock for at least three years it was lucky I had another horse to ride - Kerry and Lisa had been doing a great job with Tigger so far. I felt very guilty taking him back.

Lace was injured with the prospect of a minimum of six months off. So time for a baby Lace 🥰 Only problems were my total inexperience in horse breeding or endurance horse bloodlines...

Lace had 5000 qualified kilometres in her grasp - 80km ride, bad weather and a tie up risk, would we get there?

These stories so far are generally back in the days where we didn't carry good digital cameras in our pockets most of the time, and certainly not when the weather was dodgy!

Lace and Lisa had won the 160 at the North Island Champs. What next? Time for our first trip to the South Island where the Nationals would be this year. But that was a few months away so a few more rides to keep those ponies fit.
