Thank you to everyone who braved the weather yesterday to get their dog’s picture with Santa. We had many wonderful dogs who got to meet Santa (some for the first time). I also want to give a big Thank You to all the volunteers who helped with the event.

Looking at current position statements from organizations like AVSAB (American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior), who are the leaders on veterinary care and behavior, they are abundantly clear that the outdated belief of avoiding socialization until vaccines are completed has no place in current standards. This is relevant because in many cases this fear of strangers or a particular group of people, results from lack of socialization during this critical period and can have lifelong impacts into adulthood.

So important. Even if it’s overcast, your car can still reach hot temperatures. Leave your dog at home.

It takes just 10 minutes for the temperature inside a car to rise to 115 degrees Fahrenheit when the air temperature outside is 96 degrees as it was this evening! I was putting groceries in the trunk of my car when I heard a dog barking. I looked around and saw a small dog peering out of the window on the passenger side of a car with the windows all the way up (not that it would have made a difference if they weren't). Shocked that someone would not know better, I went inside to report what I saw to the store manager. When we went to look for the car, the person had gone. Shouldn't this be common sense? If it's too hot for me and I have no fur, how hard is this weather on an animal that is covered with fur ~~ especially one locked inside a hot car??? ~ Cindy

Reminder, we offer Puppy Play Time on Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM. There is no charge If you are currently enrolled in our Puppy Class a $10.00 for those not taking our puppy class. The puppy play time is for puppies 6 months and below that have good play skills. You must reserve your spot before coming to this puppy social. Hands On Dog Training
Reminder, we have puppy play time tomorrow evening, June 20 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Puppies from 12 wks to 20 wks can play with other puppies for the hour. Puppies are supervised by a certified dog trainer while they play. There is a $10 charge to participate, please call 408-309-8451 to reserve your spot. New classes begin on Saturday, June 29. We have Puppy Class at 9:30 AM, Basic Manners Class at 10:30 and Juvenile Class at 11:30 AM. Just a reminder, Hands On Dog Training is offering Puppy Playtime sessions on Thursday evenings. Your puppy must be under 5 months and good with other puppies. You must call Gloria @
408-309-8451 to hold a place in this class. The cost is $10.00 for 1 hour of play.

We will be beginning our new classes on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The classes are 6 weeks long and cost $150.00. The classes are as follows:
Puppy Class: Saturday, May 4 @ 9:30 AM
Basic Obedience: Saturday, May 4 @. 10:30
Juvenile Class (Canine Good Citizen Class): Saturday, May 4 @ 11:30 AM
Community Canine (for those students that have already taken the Canine Good Citizen Class). Saturday, May 4 @ 12:30 PM
We will also be offering a Tuesday night class for dogs 5 months and above which begins on May 11 @ 6:00 PM.
Don’t forget about our Puppy Play Time on Thursday evenings at 6:00 for puppies 10 was to 20 weeks.

Wanted to remind everyone that we off a puppy play ground at Hands On Dog Training. We meet on Thursday evenings at 6:30 PM and includes puppies from 10 weeks to 20 weeks old.
