Help Save Pets Help Save Pets saves the lives of cats, kittens, puppies, and dogs from pounds and shelters in mostly rural areas. Learn more at Helpsavepets.org

What exactly does HSP do? We rescue dogs and cats from pounds and shelters in mostly rural areas.

• Many government funded pounds and shelters, especially in rural areas, have an abundance of homeless animals and scarce cage space to house them. The demand for pets from these shelters is low and the kill rate is high. We rescue puppies and kittens that most rescues will not.
• Many shelters, in

cluding other no kill rescues, will NOT take puppies or kittens under 3 months old because of their susceptibility to illness. Most are sadly put to death. We rescue dogs and cats with curable health problems.
• Many adult animals with curable health problems (some serious, including Heartworm positive dogs) are restored to health and offered for adoption. We take pregnant and nursing moms with their babies.
• We find foster homes for them to raise their young in a safe environment. Pounds put these moms and their babies down immediately because of the risk of illness, extra work and additional space involved with caring for them. We work closely with Will County and Joliet Township Animal Control to help reduce the kill rate of animals locally. We offer training and behavioral counseling to assist in the transition of adopted animals into new homes.

Meet Caroline! This sweet girl was unfortunately left with two other cats in carriers outside of Downers Grove Animal Care Center, with no information and overnight... Her two housemates have since been adopted, and she is the last girl looking for her forever home. We are thinking she is around a year old or so but unfortunately can't say for sure as she was dumped without any information. She is a bit of a shy kitty but comes out of her shell and loves attention once she knows you. She would thrive in a quieter household. She did do well with her sister 'Max', so we think she would do fine with other friendly cats. Dogs would probably be fine if they are cat friendly and do not pester her. Caroline's adoption fee is $129 and includes her spay, microchip, vaccinations and routine lab work. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in adopting Caroline. She is currently located at Oswego Animal Hospital.

One of our amazing volunteers, Liz, took the boys on an adventure this week to get a break from the kennel. Chamber and Pyro are the best boys and so deserving of a forever home. We have had them for a year now and they celebrated their 1st birthday in a kennel 😔 adoption fees are just $99 each pup and includes their neuter, microchip, vaccinations, f***l and heartworm testing, and a year supply of heartworm/flea/tick prevention.

Here's what Liz has to say about the boys...

"These two deserve the world! This is Pyro and Chamber. They are available for adoption through Help Save Pets at their Oswego location in Oswego Animal Hospital. They have been there for nearly a year and no one has any idea as to why. We got a nice long walk in on this gorgeous day and let me tell you, they are the best!
Pyro(tri-colored) is like velcro, he was constantly at my side and even at a couple points between my legs as we walked.
Chamber(tan & black) is a curious little boy, his nose was glued to the ground and seems to be down for any adventure.
Please PLEASE please get these boys some more exposure. They don’t deserve to live their lives out in a kennel."

Please email [email protected] if interested in adopting one of the boys!!!

Our guys Pyro & Chamber are STILL looking for their forever homes. They are now celebrating their 1st birthdays in a kennel. So not fair for these sweet, sweet babies. They are dog friendly and seem like they may be ok with cats. They have met some children without issue but compatibility will depend on age and activity level, dog experience of the kiddos. The boys are mixed breeds through and through and we do not have any clue of what their primary breed is.. mom was a terrier mix of some kind and dad is unknown.. medium/large at this time around 50 lbs but need to gain some weight in a home. They will very clearly need some basic training refreshers when leaving the shelter as they have lived here since they were small pups. We aren't sure why they haven't been adopted but they really want to leave to their forever homes. Each boy is looking for their own home unless a very special person had the time and interest in both. The adoption fee for Pyro and Chamber are $99 each and includes their neuters, microchip, vaccinations, f***l and heartworm testing. They also each come with a year supply of Nexgard Plus (heartworm, flea and tick prevention) courtesy of a generous donation from Boehringer Ingelheim!(And some toys too!). PLEASE email [email protected] if interested in adopting one of the boys so we can get the process started!
