Just finished a test incubation and 100% fertility on white silkies and white crested polish, 90% on black copper marans. Hatching eggs will be 25.00 a half dozen pick up only this week and next before I can start shipping.(Ramona CA)

Slowly sorting hens, we have three female silkies one blue copper and two black copper pullets ( Marans at pol) ready to move on to a nice family flock. 50 each I'm Ramona pick up only right now.

Last hatch of ducklings and second to last chicken hatch for the expo May 20th at the Ramona fairgrounds. Marans are champs with laying this year and silkies are doing great as well! Unfortunately I will be hording my Speckled Sussex until later this summer. Last DNA testing was sent out yesterday so hopefully will have a few sexed silkies to offer as well. If you have been looking for a particular breed this is definitely the place to be! Hope to see you there!

It's been a busy few months here.
Couldn't make it up to the Fresno show last month (not due to trying after 14 hours in traffic, California can't handle weather!) So breeding pens got set up soon after. Hoping to get some great birds this spring for showing this fall.

Just finished the second to last step for NPIP certification. All testing went well and the vet inspection was great, just waiting for paperwork to catch up now. This will allow us to ship eggs!
Just started the PHI program (Poultry Health Inspection). This means I will be going to local fairs inspecting birds for poultry shows. Hope to see big turnouts this year with COVID behind us now.

First batch of eggs set to hatch next week. This year we are trying our hand at blue copper Marans and berchin moderns in addition to our silkies, black copper Marans, speckled Sussex and Welsh harlequin ducks.
Our hatching timeline is tight as we will also be attending the Family Farm Expo at the Ramona fairgrounds on May 20th.

Old girl there took second, not bad for a 7 year old! Such a great show at Lodi, over 64 silkies entered and just an amazing opportunity to see some amazing birds!

Finally starting to get some eggs in the incubator! Test hatching from last week showed ducks need another week, silverrudds are doing amazing so far, BCM are hit and miss about 60%. Silkies and old English are coming along and Sussex are finally starting to develop. Hopefully full brooders by April!

Last weekend was a show at the Fresno fair grounds. Little chunk call duck got 2nd in a super competive line up! My Speckled Sussex hen got best of variaty (BV) and best of breed (BB) (not shown my SS pullet Reserve variety (RV) reserve breed (RB). My BCM pullet got 2nd and my BCM received RV and RB. All and all a good show season. I've made great improvements to my lines. Now it's time to start hatching as next show will not be until October.

So incredibly excited. Finally got ahold of some Welsh Harlequin ducks via brenna.mooney who was able to get a few pairs prior to holderreads retirement. These are beautiful light class ducks who are an off shoot of the khaki Campbell. It took a while to find these guys as they are listed as critically endangered by the albc. They lay an insane amount of eggs with a beautiful color pattern and quiet disposition. Fingers crossed they do well here!
