I just stumbled upon this poem, and I know so many of us can feel its truth—holding onto the hope that one day, we’ll be reunited with our beloved companions. 🤍🐾🌈
I saw you softly weeping as you flipped through photographs,
Pausing for a moment at one that made you laugh.
But as you turned more pages, the tears began to fall,
You whispered that you missed me, but I haven’t left at all.
I gently kissed those stinging tears that trickled down your face,
I want you to understand—I’m still here, in my special place.
On the days when sorrow weighs you down with grief and pain,
I rest my head upon your lap to bring you peace again.
When you walk our favorite path, I see you turn around,
I know you hear my paws still softly touching ground.
At night, while you are sleeping, I curl up by your side,
You reach to where I used to lay, your fingers open wide.
You say it’s just your heart playing tricks upon your mind,
But I am truly there, my spirit stays behind.
I know your heart is aching, an emptiness so deep,
You think my journey’s over, that I’ve gone away to sleep.
But love like ours is endless—it doesn’t fade or fall,
For us, death is not goodbye, just the beginning of it all.
So live your life, my dearest friend, and know I patiently wait,
Until we walk together through Heaven’s open gate.
