A simple way to use rhubarb.

This year I am trying some new techniques to stay healthy going into winter. Being a blonde is hard work in MN. Winters can be a huge grumpville for me, so I am working on keeping my body happy. Everyday I have been drinking a glass full of lemon water when I wake up in the morning. So far so good,....

20 cups apples, or enough to fill a 12 quart pot
4 cups water
1 cup sugar
3 teaspoons powdered citric acid or 3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon

A friend of ours has many apple trees and we went to pick 7, 5-gallon buckets of them for use at home and the hunting land. We made apple cider, applesauce and threw some around out in the woods for a doe and her fawn. Ingredients 20 cups apples, or enough to fill a 12 quart pot 4 cups water 1 cup s...

Check out my post for wild grape jelly! Have a grape day! 😀

There are a few patches of wild grapes that grow near my home in Minnesota on gravel roadsides and a park called eagle’s nest. Fitting for where the birds go to feast. We also have a few varieties growing in the garden. We like the wild grapes for the tartness, extra vitamin C content, and the dee...

It has been a fruitful few days of foraging mushrooms. Here are a few I found. Lobster under an oak tree which is parasitic mushroom of a russela mushroom. Smells like lobster. Chanterelle mushroom under a dead pine tree smells like apricots, super yummy!! Hedgehog mushrooms found in maple based woods tooth comb under cap, nutty and delicious one of my favorites! Also found wine cap, I didn't try it since it was a new mushroom to me to find. Get out there, find an adventure and learn about the land. And consider planting more forest lands if you are a land owner. The critters and the earth will thank you.

My new experiment of turning cardboard into compost! Thanks to my paper shredder, my Amazon boxes and lots of seed catalogs, I have now reduced and repurposed my paper recycling.

This will be my potato bed made mostly of mulch and leaves from cleaning up the garden beds and around the house.

I am hoping to increase my potato crop this year by growing it in a large old feeder. It should warm up and break down the leaves and mulch while feeding the potato plants. 🥔

We finished up our pheasant stock. It turned out great! We boiled the pheasant bones with 2 large onions, several bay leaves, and a few celery ribs for a couple hours. Strained and packed them up for canning. Swipe to see the directions for the pressure canner. Save the recipe and try it out at home.
