He is waiting for you in OJAI!

Hap is an active and playful pup who came all the way from Antigua! He loves to be where the action is and would do well in an active home that has plenty of time to dedicate to him.
Hap has most of his basics down, including sit, down, touch, and leash walking. Hap is house-trained, but accidents can happen, especially when acclimating to a new home. Hap likes other dogs, but he has an exuberant playstyle and does best with dogs that can match his energy!

To know Hap is to love him: He ADORES his people. Hap needs slow introductions to new people, as he can be fearful around strangers (aren't we all?!) Hap may never be the life of the party, but he'll be your one and only if you give him the chance. He would do best with a somewhat experienced adopter with no young children to jump on, and who can help lead him in the right direction. Expect 1-2 sessions to meet and get to know Hap!

Hap is currently being fostered in Ojai. This is a courtesy post, and the adoption would be handled by another out-of-state rescue.

UPDATE—AFLAR PULLED RUM RAISIN & OREO AND THEY ARE OUT OF THE SHELTER!!!🙏😍🩷😍💜🙏

Thanks to the miracle of love, dedication, donating, sharing and praying, we raised the funds to give these two young souls the chance at the life they deserve!!! Thank you to the VCAS volunteers who worked tirelessly with us to raise funds in the short time we were given. And thank you to those wonderful people who donated to help us save them.

Tonight Rum Raisin and Oreo are safe in boarding where they will receive love and care, and have a chance to decompress before they go to their board & train.

We will share photos & videos as soon as we have a chance to get some… This has been a very difficult, emotionally draining, and all-consuming job, to raise these funds and make all the life-saving arrangements so quickly! But we did it, and we thank every single person who helped to make this miracle happen!!!🙏🩷

😍 HAPPY ADOPTION NEWS!!!😍
Our adventure-loving pup, MAUI is ADOPTED!!!

One of Minnie’s puppies, Maui, now has his Forever Home! He has an adventurous, loving family who have already taken him sailing… And Maui loved it!!! Maui has a big brother husky named Juno, his Dad, Parry, and Mom, Deanna. He also has a human sister who’s off at college.

Maui’s Dad loves to take long walks daily with both dogs, and they go everywhere with him! What a great life!!!

Here is what Parry shared~
“We adopted Maui to bring our husky some companionship, as well as me, as we had lost a beloved shepherd 7 months prior.
Maui has proven to be a wonderful, well adjusted, loving pup who has won over the hearts of us and our husky.
We could not have worked with a nicer and more compassionate rescue group to help bring us together!
Many thanks!”

This is the home Maui dreamed of and we coulden’t be happier for him! Happy trails, precious one!!!😍😍😍

This Fundraiser was organized by shelter volunteers who are desperately trying to raise donations needed to save these two dogs. The funds are needed for the board & train that will provide them with the training and socialization needed, before placing them into loving homes. This is their only option to get out of the shelter—alive!

Donations are urgently needed to save them!!! This is not a scam. These dogs were set to be euthanized, and we were given a few days to pull a rescue plan together... Please help us save their lives!!!

AFLAR ALUMNI RICO, now PATCHES, UPDATE 💖💜❤
We are so happy to hear from Dave, His Dad!!

Hi Ladies!
Just wanted to check in. It’s been a little over six months since Patches came home. Everything is going excellent!!! He really is a character!!! He’s been a blessing, and he’s enjoying the best life ever!

He’s a muscle boy, but he can also be a big ol fraidy cat 🤣 Like if the dog door makes a snapping sound. It takes a couple days for him to trust it again. He’s my riding partner in the truck and has right around weekly play dates at Ms. Steph’s house.

He’s definitely a life lover and sure is happy to be there, wherever that is 👍🏻 He’s also decided that he’s a lapdog, and I have conceded to that. Thank you all again!!! I’ll check in periodically with status reports.

A BUNDLE OF JOY, LOOKING FOR A HOME!!!

This sweet adorable goofy girl is Matilda, aka Mattie for short. Mattie is 5-months-old and was rescued from abandonment in the river bottom, narrowly escaping a terrifying fate.

Mattie is a joyful, exuberant and resilient little girl! She is sweet, trusting and affectionate. She knows how to sit, and is such a well behaved little lady in public when around other animals. She is extremely smart and connects to her human. She is hungry to learn new commands, and soak up the world around her. She has the usual puppy energy, but also will sit down next to you with a toy she likes and entertain herself.
Mattie would love to find an active forever family who will show her the world and take her on adventures.
She would love a doggy sibling too!

We have absolutely fallen in love with this sweet little angel in the short time she’s been with our rescue, and continue to be impressed with her gentle temperament and big personality!

Looking for her FOREVER FAMILY❤️

BROOKLYN, or Brooky, as we like to call her, is in need of her Forever Home.🙏 She is a sweet and saucy 45 lb little sausage girl. She is about 2-3 years old, and full of character and fun. She is a beautiful, playful brindle girl who also loves tug and playing with her toys.

She loves her people too, and she has been so happy to meet all our rescue volunteers and play with them.
Brooky loves her walks, and is so cute bouncing down the road with a little sashay, her b***y wiggle, her tail wagging and her ears bopping up and down! She’s so confident and happy, she just makes you smile!

Brooky takes treats gently and knows what she wants, but listens to her handler and is polite. She would love a home where she has a family that likes to go on walks and adventures, as she loves exploring the world! She may be okay with another calm, polite dog in the home.
