White Rose Dog Training Barn Hunt, Trail Hunt, Scentwork and Hoopers training in North Yorkshire. Now also offering Rapid Run. We have ten all together and they all get trained.

My names Annette and I currently compete in Hoopers and Agility with 3 of my dogs. Some in Scentwork, some in Trail Hunt, some in Hoopers and some in Hoopers. I have also competed in competitive Obedience and Working Trials.

These are the requirements for Grade Tests for Trail Hunt International. You need to be a member of Trail Hunt International, and each test is £6.99. You get three attempts and choose which Trail you want to do. If anybody would be interested in doing these, please let me know. You must pass Grade 1 before moving on to Grade 2.

I want to thank everyone who braved the cold this morning to come to the Trail Hunt International taster session. It was lovely to see so many different breeds of dogs taking part, and they all did exceptionally well. Sorry, I did not get any photos. A big thank you to Judy Cockburn and the magnificent Upton for doing the demo, and an even bigger thank you to Denise Lea for letting me use the field, providing tea and coffee for us all, and lastly, for all the advertising you do for me and the support, it is really appreciated. :-)

So this year hasn't got of to the best of starts. As some of you will know from hoopers we lost our venue at very short notice. This was also the venue I was using for Rapid Run so unfortunately until I find a new venue I will not be able to hold any more Rapid Run.

I have also now lost the Barn that I used for Barn Hunt. The farm is going to use it to put Stables in for more liveries, and work will start this week. So no Barn Hunt till a new venue is found.

I am so sorry to all of you who took part in both, but I will try my hardest to find new venues.

I have just added the taster to Trail Hunt International to the website, the date is 12th January 2025, with Foundation Workshops taking place on the 26th Jan, 16th Feb, 2nd March and 23rd March. These will all be held at Copmanthorpe, York. Trail Hunt is a blend of Tracking and Trailing where you dog must follow the aniseed trail to find its pod. It can be trained anywhere and on your own, and you can run more than one dog on the same trail after foundations are learn't, it is ideal mental and physical stimulation for your dog. We start of with Foundations where you are taught how to imprint the odour and start doing turns on trails on hard and soft surfaces.. After this comes Foundations plus where you and your dog are taught how to discriminate between human and trail odour more skills are learnt and by now you will be learning how to read your dogs body language. After this comes Components Level 1, which is high pod, back trail, distractions, gap in the trail, multiple pods, gate/barrier, odour pools, no odour indication and finding the start of the trail.. Then comes components Level 2, Water find, second odour, buried hide, distraction odour/split trail, door entries, cross trail, multi odour trail, and hidden pod. After this we work on Level 3 components, Switching trails, Moving pod, aged trails, night trails elevated trails and double odour split trails. All the components are worked as stand alone exercises before we start putting them on the trail. There are achievement tests which are designed to challenge you and your dog's learning and also grade tests, which are structured so there is something for everyone. 2025 will see Trail Hunt International trials for those of us who like to compete.
