Casey sitting with his sheep. He is a livestock guardian dog who has good genetics and guards his flock seriously against predators-That includes other dogs and coyotes. He is also a nursemaid to any sheep or lamb that is hurt. His job is to protect the sheep with Cora and Hazel; the 3 are a force together. That is their job here. Visitors are most welcome - they are quite human friendly-but not dogs. ; ’sfriends

AMAZING! The light, the colors, snow on buds, the beauty, the fragility and fleeting nature, moment by moment. You can either see it, and embrace each second- or be bored, depressed and afraid. You have the choice on how you create your mental constructs. My mantra I learned from an independent thinker, my Mom. Is it easy? No it requires work and discipline . Is it worth it? I think it is, as I watch the light glistening on the forest below where I sit on my farm hillside, absolutely mesmerized by this world in which we live.

I was winding down from my day, when all my dogs started barking like crazy. I thought the other barking I heard was coyotes,as I got my boots on and stepped outside. Not coyotes but rather three hunters running their dogs in the pasture where my cows were, laughing and having a good time shooting in the direction of my house about 700 feet away. I called my dogs in and called 911. The woman answering 911 took it seriously and said someone would be dispatched. Ten minutes later I get a call from a police officer in charge, “they are just c**n hunters - give them 15 minutes and call us back if they haven’t left” he told me. I told him they were starting to move to the center of my farm. “Did you hear what I said” he said. I repeated his message back to him, but I’m thinking since when are hunter’s rights a priority over the landowner’s rights.

The hunters continued to walk across my property with their 3 flashlights, guns, and dogs baying. I called 911 back. The woman said the officer was on the way. I watched the 3 hunters, walk above my pasture where my horses grazed. My guardian dogs were going crazy barking, in the barn where my sheep were, as more shots and laughing were heard. Then the 3 men started to go back the same way they came. I watch them until they walk over a hill still on my land. The police car finally arrived - an hour from my first call. I tell the officer what happened and told him where they came from. He asked me if I went up and told them to leave. “No, isn’t that what the police are for?”, I asked, “but I’ll be getting a shotgun or rifle”. He responded, “Get both” as he turned his car around and left.
Got it! One gun for each hand....
A cold new moon arises, as the leadership and people of authority in all positions from the top down, turn civility into lawlessness.
I saw some trivial Facebook posting where you post a picture of yourself now and one of you in the wild west of old. I hate to tell ya’ll but the Wild West is alive and well!

Five Springs Farm

A sustainable farm based on stewardship practices grounded in a reverence for the land and its resources, growing wholesome food, and providing a farm stay experience to share this way of life with others.

The farmstead includes gardens, high tunnel, hay field, pastures with rotationally grazed beef cattle and sheep, dogs and horses, chicken coop, farmer's residence, guesthouse, and other farm buildings, surrounded by 140 acres of wooded hills offering wonderful views. Located in Fayetteville, minutes from the New River Gorge.

The high tunnel allows for the early spring production of vegetables, herbs, and flowers grown here. No pesticides are used because pollinators and birds are desired residents.

There is a market vegetable garden located next to the high tunnel, and several ornamental gardens located around the residence and guesthouse.
