We took our dog to the vet on Monday, and as I was waiting to be checked in there was a lady with a small dog at the front desk. She was very nice and chatty, and her little dog was a happy guy wanting to say hi to everyone.
As we were standing there two ladies came out of one of the exam rooms with their large breed dog, and stopped when they saw the small dog.
The owner of the small dog proceeded to let her dog run right up to the large dog and jump all over it, while the owners of the big dog were trying to pull their dog away.
“Oh don’t worry!! My dog is friendly and loves everyone!” Says the small dog owner.
The owner of the big dog replied “Your dog may be friendly, but I’m not sure about my dog, so please pull your dog away”
The owner of the small dog didn’t take this as seriously as she should of and did nothing. It took the vet coming out, grabbing the leash of the small dog and pulling it off to the side.
This is not ok!! Just because your dog is friendly does NOT mean you can let your dog run up to another.
Thank goodness the vet intervened when she did because if it wasn’t her grabbing the leash to move the small dog, it was going to be me.
And if the big dog ended up attacking the small dog, it would have been 100% the owners fault.
