Meet Laurie and Addie (Add A Line) from NY

Why do you participate in EquestriON Challenges?
I participate in the online challenges because it is so much easier and more enjoyable than going to a horse show. I also enjoy all of the posts from all of the participants. This is also the first online challenge that I've ever done. This has been such a great experience! I will continue to do them! Thank you Danielle for doing these challenges!

Tell Us A Little About Yourself and Your Horse:
Addie (Add A Line) is 22 years old. She is a Quarter Horse. Everyone who meets Addie falls in love with her! I won the lottery when she came into my life! She's one in a million! My current barn owners lover her. They can't believe how easy she is to get a long with! She certainly is a VERY SPECIAL horse! Addie will nicker when I come into the barn before she hears or sees me. She knows that I'm there! She also knows my car. If she's in her paddock and she sees my car, she watches me drive in and then waits at the gate for me to come and get her. I've cherished Addie from the very first ride. In our first ride video together you can hear my trainer and lady we bought her from saying how much Addie enjoys how I'm riding her. They both could tell that I enjoyed riding Addie because I was smiling from ear to ear! We've been together through many ups and downs together. We've been together for over 8 years. She loves all treats except treats that have no sugar in them at all. She is always willing to take them, but then spits them out. Those are the only ones that I've found that she doesn't like. We laugh every time my friend goes to feed them to her because we know what is going to happen. She then will look at us as to say, "What the heck was that?" Addie and ALL the horses in the barn, love when my boyfriend comes to the barn. We refer to him as a pez dispenser. He gives everyone cookies! Not just once, but several times during his visit. I limit him to going to the barn on the weekends only. This is why I go through 5 pounds of cookies a month, haha.

I'm Laurie. I've been riding since I was a kid. I live in New York. I'm a math teacher who will be retiring in June. I can't wait! When I retire, I will get to spend a lot more time with Addie! I started out riding hunters and now just ride for pleasure. I thought that I wanted to go to some local horse show, but Addie has no interest in doing that, so we won't do that. We both got stressed out with the thought of going to a horse show, that's not what we are about. I've had many ups and downs during my years of riding, but Addie is the bright light. We listen to each other and want to make each other happy. I refer to Addie as my therapist! She has helped me through some very difficult times over the years. I know that I can count on her for unconditional love and I can tell her anything and she won't share it with anyone. We've had a connection from the very first day. The video of me riding Addie the first time is proof that we connected on the first ride.

How did you come up with your horse's name? My barn owner/trainer/friend, Bonny thought that it would be nice, if my horses had math themed names since I'm a math teacher. So my 1st horse was Matt (Do The Math), my 2nd horse was Dodger (Sum It Up), and Addie (Add A Line). Addie was the last horse that Bonny helped me find because she passed away 6 years ago from Breast Cancer.
