I think I've finished my drawing of the Little Owl using the Pitt Matt pencils on Fabriano Artistico, 11 x 14 inches.
I didn't have the 14B so the darkest pencil I used was the 12B.
The one thing that I found was that the pencils didn't seem as dark as the equivalent grades in my usual Faber Castell 9000 range, so I didn't think the 12B was a really dark tone.
They came with a lovely sharp point but I found it quite difficult to achieve the same point even with a variety of sharpeners, I'd be interested to know what the graphite is mixed with to create the matt appearance. I couldn't find that information.
The other thing I found was that they didn't layer one over the other easily, it was possible but harder to achieve the finish I wanted.
I also found them harder to smudge than the equivalent grade in other ranges, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
They certainly do what it says on the tin, the end result was a lovely matt finish with none of the graphite shine.
Do I like them, yes, but I will still use my 9000 series for most drawings.
