Ruth Ann 🩷

I’ve struggled to find the right words for a post like this… rescue is tough… it’s not always fun and quite frankly it’s never easy. We see it all- the worst of the worst and sometimes we are too late to help. I’m going to choose to be thankful today that we were able to help Ruth. Ruth is now on the mend at 17 years old and will began her final chapters of life a bit more comfortable. Since this video was taken Ruth has seen the Vet, was groomed, and had some much needed medical care including a full dental with multiple extractions. 🩺🥼🦷 This girl is a warrior. I’m sure many would have suggested humane euthanasia at her age but she showed she was here to stay and wanted to fight so we gave her that opportunity. Ruth is making strides and is now walking and eating like a champ!(she was unable to stand when she arrived at the rescue) At first I was angry and jumped to assumptions of the worst possible monster that could leave an animal in this condition in their home living alongside them without a care… but then I dug deeper into the story and found the truth…. The truth is Ruth was a very beloved companion- her mom even brought her to JC Penny for photo shoots at the holidays and hung them proudly in her home. Sadly, Ruth’s mom developed dementia and had little to no family checking in on her so she forgot she had a pet to take care of and also forgot to take care of herself. Ruth has suffered neglect but so has her mom. The condition that her mom was found in was deplorable and the home condemned… this neglect wasn’t on purpose and is quite frankly one of the saddest stories I’ve seen. A promise to Ruth’s mom wherever you are now- we will take care of your baby and find her the most amazing retirement home for her final chapter in life. 🐾📖📕 Please let this story serve as a reminder to check-in on your friends, neighbors, loved ones you never know when someone really could be in need.
