Our goal is to have delegates donate at least 2 books each, starting 3rd-5th November 2023. We aim to collect reading books, reference books, activity books and other genres suitable for children and adults. KUCHING: Kongres Persekutuan Persatuan Veterinar Asia (FAVA) Ke-22 dan Persatuan Perubatan Veterinar Malaysia (MAVMA) Ke-33 akan diadakan di sini pada 3 hingga 5 November depan.

Bertemakan ‘Asia Bersatu Untuk Kesihatan dan Kebajikan Haiwan', kongres itu akan diadakan di Pusat Konvensyen Borneo Kuching (BCCK) dan bakal dirasmikan Menteri Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan Malaysia Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

Perkara itu dimaklumkan Menteri Industri Makanan, Komoditi dan Pembangunan Wilayah Dato Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom pada sidang media di sini, hari ini sambil menambah, kongres berkenaan dianjurkan bersama oleh FAVA, MAVMA dan disokong Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar Malaysia, Jabatan Perkhidmatan Veterinar Sarawak (JPVS) dan Persatuan Veterinar Sarawak.

"Pelbagai program akan diadakan sepanjang kongres berlangsung, antaranya bengkel pra-kongres dan kelas-kelas induk mengenai pelbagai aspek seperti sains veterinar, perubatan, pembedahan dan banyak lagi.

"Penceramah terkenal dari seluruh dunia akan mengambil bahagian. Saya difahamkan 12 negara akan mengambil bahagian, jadi ini merupakan penghormatan sebenar kepada Sarawak untuk menghoskan kongres ini kali ini," katanya.

Dr Rundi berkata bagi mendepani cabaran-cabaran global yang mendesak seperti perubahan iklim, sekuriti makanan dan kemunculan penyakit berjangkit, komuniti veterinar memainkan peranan penting dalam mencegah, mengawal serta mengurangkan penyakit pada masa sama mengekalkan produktiviti sektor ternakan.

FAVA 2023 katanya bertujuan memudahkan rundingan mengenai cabaran-cabaran mendatang ini dan memupuk keseimbangan yang mampan antara kesihatan haiwan, manusia dan alam sekitar.
