While we prefer to earn our way and hate asking for donations, it seems to be more difficult every month to keep up with just ordinary, every day expenses. So we're asking for donations for a couple of expenses we're having trouble keeping up with.

We need your help to get a load of crushed limestone that runs about $750. We use this to fill in low spots in the yards and driveway. It's been a couple of years since we got one so there are quite a few low spots that now require a good filling or they become little mud pits when it rains (and death traps when it's dry). LOL

Our rescues and sanctuary animals also need help paying for dog food and cleaning supplies...which run about $600 a week (dogs, poultry and livestock). In addition to food, we're always buying mops, bleach, Pine Sol, trash bags, p**p scoops, treats, blankets, chew toys, paper towels, water bowls, feeders, etc. etc. etc...

I've posted a picture of a dog food run that lasts about two weeks and some of the sanctuary dogs who benefit from it. Also some pictures of other sanctuary animals who have to be fed every day, who need your help as well. They all appreciate it and we do too!

Two beautiful puppies are in a dire situation and need a new home ASAP! Mom is a Feist and dad is a rolling stone. Mom was rescued from the woods and finders had no idea she was pregnant. One has already been given away and these two are being offered "Free to good home" or to a rescue.

Kola (one of our personal pups) showing off her spay scar but also showing her disappointment that not a single person donated to help pay for her 4 rescued friends surgeries this past week.
Our total bill for 4 aussie mix babies (up for adoption) was 680...we received 0 donations.
Lack of donations is just one of the many reasons we and many other rescues have to say no to the many daily requests to help abandoned/unwanted dogs.

Our intake is closed until further notice.
We do have several dogs available for adoption.

Another amazing adoption!

Mamma Elsa (now Rose) went to her furever home last week. They saw her the day we rescued her and the pups and immediately fell in love. Elsa has that effect on folks! They had to wait for her pups to be weaned and her to be spayed but, based on the updates, looks like it was worth the wait. :)

Hello to all of our supporters. It has been quite some time since we have asked for help feeding our pups but here we are.
We need help.
We have indefinitely closed our intake while we try to get the dogs still here into forever homes. We also have several sanctuary pups who will be here for life. We stepped up when others asked for help with these pups and now we need help to continue to feed them.
We do everything we can on our own to take care of the dogs here.
We do boarding at low cost rates. We do bake sales, we sell eggs and we obviously spend our own money from our other income sources more often than not to continue care for the rescued pups. We do all we can to care for the pups we commited to.
But today we need help for tomorrows dog food run to Costco.
Yes. We still drive 3 hours round trip every week to get our dogs the best quality, best priced food. (It's worth it to keep our dogs on same food daily and have no upset tummies and less clean up in the dog yards. This food keeps them healthy skin and coat too)

Attached is a picture of Ziggy with his best begging face on. Ziggy is one of many sanctuary dogs who will be here for life either for behavioral or medical issues. (In his case, it is a medical issue)
We also have many dogs for adoption still waiting for the right home to cone along. They need to eat and get basic vetting while they wait.

Unfortunately many rescues continue taking dogs because those "urgent" dogs are the ones tugging at peoples heartstrings. They bring in donations so while we understand that way of rescue, we will not take new dogs just for donations. We have seen where that leaves us and the dogs.

We need people to help us continue to care for ones here already. The ones still waiting. The ones who are just as important as the ones at shelters or left abandoned on the streets. The dogs here matter too! Just because they are safe and happy does not make them "less than".
Please consider donating and show you care about these pups too.
And about us, if I am being honest.
We only ask when we truly need help. We have had a lot of personal pup losses and vet bills and even rescue dog bills in the past 6 months we haven't even reached out for help for.
We have some huge other personal bills, air conditioning issues, cars breaking down...all the usual stuff most of ua deal with. This means we need more help than usual to care for our rescues.
Please help us take care of THEM. We are not asking for help for ourselves or our personal dogs. Just help to FEED the rescue pups...and kitties.;)

I don't know who needs to hear this but...

Its real feel of 109 outside right now in southeast Texas right now. Your dog doesn't need to go with you anywhere right now.
No walks. No trips to the park or the grocery store. No extra anything where they will be outside or walking on hot pavement or left in a car.
Leave them home unless they are going to the vet or traveling with you somewhere necessary.
Outside playtime should be monitored and watched. Heat stroke happens quick for a dog and many won't know to stop playing until too late.
If you are boarding your dog anywhere in Texas make sure they do not leave your dog unattended outside.
IF your dog is kept outside PLEASE PROVIDE SHADE AND SHELTER AND FRESH COOL WATER. Baby pools are cheap at Walmart. Get them one. If your dog does suffer a heat stroke do not let them drink ice cold water. Wrap dog in cold towels and get immediately to a vet.
Be safe this summer and use common sense. Its only June

Please keep your dog.
Please pitch in and help your neighbor, family member or friend so they can keep their dog. Plan ahead when considering getting a dog. Ask for help when you need it. Do your research. Seek guidance from professionals.
Adopt instead of purchasing a puppy.
Spay and neuter your current pets.
All of these things need to happen if we are going to survive this…we cannot do it alone.

THE ANIMAL RESCUE COMMUNITY IS IN CRISIS. Amazing animals are being euthanized solely due to a lack of space in shelters and rescues across the nation - and our immediate community has not been spared. Overpopulation is a tremendous problem. More so now than ever before! It's not just dogs with behavioral or medical issues waiting months or years for an adopter… perfectly healthy, young, friendly dogs are taking up valuable shelter and foster space - which means dogs with any sort of medical or behavioral issue have no chance. An exponential amount of families are looking to rehome their pets…and there just aren't enough homes for all of them. Every day, we heartbreakingly turn away families asking for help simply because there is no place for all these dogs to go; no way to save them all - or even a FRACTION of them! It’s dismal. It’s scary. It's devastating. The rescue community is reeling and trying to find ways to keep up. But the truth is, recuses, shelters, and these innocent pets WILL NOT SURVIVE WITHOUT COMMUNITY SUPPORT!

Typically, we try to keep our posts light, happy, and positive - but we cannot ignore the state of our community. We cannot ignore our heartbreak, frustration and exhaustion. We have received hundreds of requests to rehome pets so far this year… that is on top of all the shelter dogs that need our help
And we are not alone in this. EVERY shelter and rescue is drowning. Let’s stick together, search for resources, and find ways to help each other and our pets.

We are not discounting those who absolutely must rehome their pets. We understand some situations cannot be worked through or around. What we are asking is for some accountability and effort as a community to help those who need it. Help us help them.

Today's rescue is Itsy (bitsy). Itsy is a Frizzle chicken who found herself rejected by her own flock! Honestly, I think the other hens were just jealous. I mean, LOOK AT HER!!

Itsy has gaping wounds under her wing and on her breast, thigh and leg. She's received antibiotics and BlueKote for the wounds. We put her in with some of our injured/rehabbing birds and older chicks preparing to enter the mature flock. She made a few friends and settled in right away.

The Frizzles are some of our favorites and we can't wait to watch little Miss Itsy blossom and become an integral part of the flock. She's super friendly and should do just fine. :)

A litter of ten little eight week old lab puppies has to be one of the cutest things you'll ever see. Their precious little faces, innocent eyes and silly, playful nature. I could just watch them for hours...if it weren't for the cleanup! LOL

I love it when someone says, "If I win the lottery I'll buy a bunch of land and save them all!" No you won't. LOL You have no idea what you'd be getting yourself into. This is one litter, overnight. It took a lot of elbow grease, half a roll of paper towels, a paint scraper, bucket of mop water and about 45 minutes. If we're lucky, it won't need to be cleaned again until this evening.

Fortunately, for these pups, this is what we do. And we love it!

Oops. We forgot to post 2 amazing adoptions last week!
Saffron and Cash both found forever families! Saffron had actually been with us 2 years and we just couldn't believe she hadn't found a home yet. Now we know, sometimes its all about timing. Her new family had just moved to our area and well, they were just what Saffron had been waiting for.

Cash came to us with an injury after he had been hit by a car after being allowed to roam. Surgery and several months recovery, he actually had a lot of interest but none were really the right fit. He found his perfect forever and we receive almost daily updates on how loved he is.

We couldn't be happier with these two families who chose our pups to join their lives.

On that note. We have received sooo many amazing updates from past adopters about their pups over the last couple of months. So many happy pups and amazing forever families we can't even begin to post them all. Just know these updates and these adoptions keep us going. Thank you all our adoption families for keeping our hearts smiling!

Asia is one of three puppies born at and saved from BARC...along with their momma, Libby. Asia is the first to be adopted and she looks forward to an amazing forever where she will live the life she deserves.

This plea is specifically to Texas people right now. Please bring your pets inside or provide them an adequate heat source and shelter outside. I know us Texans are whining and cold right now and trust me, the dogs and cats here are too. None of us are used to these temperatures and especially with it being so warm and now so drastically cold most are not prepared. Please buy a crate or put them in a garage or spare room. A dog house isn't adequate right now unless its heated. Just do it! Picture of some of our pups inside and warm. If we can do it for so many, you can do it for yours.
